Adventure Ju**ie Events is bringing Coastal Quest back to Victoria’s spectacular Surf Coast for its second edition.

Following a successful debut last year, 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 returns with a new weekend format shaped by competitor feedback.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Victoria’s Surf Coast, Coastal Quest offers the perfect opportunity to combine adventure with a weekend escape. Just 90 minutes from Melbourne, the region is renowned for its spectacular coastline, beautiful beaches and the wild trails of the Otways.

Whether it’s a team’s first adventure race or another opportunity to test themselves against the elements, Coastal Quest is about more than reaching the finish line. It’s about shared experiences, unexpected discoveries and the satisfaction of earning every kilometre.

With all kayaking equipment supplied and participant-friendly logistics in place, getting on the start line is simple: teams just need to drop off and collect their bikes, while the event team takes care of the rest.

𝑂𝑛𝑒 𝑤𝑒𝑒𝑘𝑒𝑛𝑑. 𝑇𝑤𝑜 𝑙𝑜𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠. 𝐸𝑛𝑑𝑙𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑎𝑑𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒.

Coastal Quest offers four race options, bringing together ocean and river paddling, mountain biking and trekking across some of the Surf Coast’s most spectacular landscapes.

• 𝑬𝒑𝒊𝒄 (𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔): Take on the ultimate weekend challenge, combining the Classic Long and Classic Short races into a two-day stage race.
• 𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒄 𝑳𝒐𝒏𝒈 (𝑺𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒆): A 6–12-hour adventure featuring ocean paddling, mountain biking and trekking through the Otways hinterland.
• 𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒄 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕 (𝑺𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝑨𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂): A 3–6-hour race combining river paddling, mountain biking and trekking.
• 𝑵𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆 (𝑺𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝑨𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂): A shorter, beginner- and kids-friendly adventure lasting 1.5–3 hours, designed to help newcomers discover the excitement of adventure racing.

𝐸𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑜𝑓 𝐶𝑜𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑄𝑢𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑏𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑎 𝑑𝑖𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑎𝑑𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒.

On Saturday, teams launch into the open ocean at Lorne before (or after) navigating their way through the trails and wild landscapes of the Otways hinterland. On Sunday, the action moves to Anglesea, where teams paddle the sheltered river and explore a different side of the Surf Coast.

“The new weekend format offers something for everyone, from those looking for their first taste of adventure racing to experienced teams ready to take on the full two-day challenge. We can’t wait to bring everyone back to the Surf Coast for another unforgettable weekend,” said AJ team Maria and Serge

🔥 ADVENTURE CUP — CURRENT LEADERS! 🔥

The Adventure Cup is heating up, and Shelly Bambrook and Jack Slykhuis are currently sitting at the top of the standings! 🏆

Both have been putting strong results across the Adventure Ju**ie racing calendar, but there’s still plenty of racing to come — so the battle is on. 🧭🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️🛶

How does the Adventure Cup ranking work? Each athlete earns points from their results across all Adventure Ju**ie races, with performances accumulating throughout the Cup season. The harder race is more points you can get.

All results count towards the standings, rewarding consistency, performance and participation across all events. Every race can change the leaderboard — so there’s everything to play for! 🔥

Adventure never ends. 🧡🖤

The next race is Women only adventure race in Lysterfield 8 November followed by Sprint Series Adventure Race in Manly 15 November.

THE 12TH EDITION OF X-MARATHON THAT FELT MORE LIKE THE 13TH! 🤯🌊🌧️🌙
They say adventure racing is all about adapting to the unexpected.
Well… apparently race organisers need to be pretty good at it too! 😅
At the start of race week, local authorities announced a planned burn across half of our course. After a battle worthy of its own adventure race, we managed to get it moved to the following weekend. Crisis one: sorted! 💪
Then Friday arrived.
As most teams were arriving to Killcare SLS for registration, Council and the RFS announced a Total Fire Ban.In NSW, that meant parklands were closed for events.
Other events were cancelled.
But cancelling X-Marathon? Not today! 😅
So we went back to the drawing board and reshaped the entire race.
Parkland sections were moved to Sunday. X-Marathon became a stage race. Saturday was all about the water, while the land sections would begin at midnight, when the Total Fire Ban was lifted.
A few checkpoints were added. Some disappeared. Logistics were rewritten. Sleep became optional. 😂
And somehow… X-Marathon happened!
🌊 FULL course teams started with an epic ocean paddle through the break at Killcare Beach, followed by a battle with mangroves and rip currents in the Brisbane Water inlets.
⛈️ HALF course teams didn't get the ocean experience, but Mother Nature still delivered a storm in the evening! Luckily, it was short-lived and everyone completed the course.

🌙 At midnight, teams were back on the start line to trek the spectacular Bouddi walk, ride through the maze and rocks of local MTB trails and trek through Kincumba Mountain Reserve.

🏆 Victorian male duo Mooners Gone Mad took the overall win in FULL.
🏆 A Kiwi mixed team of four Forever Forests Racing became champions in the Premier category.
🏆 NSW DUNN and DUSTED -are the fastest HALF course team

But honestly, after a week like that, every team, volunteer, official and organiser deserves a medal! 😂❤️
This is adventure racing. You can plan everything perfectly — and then nature throws everything at you.
So you adapt. You problem-solve. You keep moving forward.
And eventually, you get to the finish line. ❤️
Full results and checkpoint splits are available on the Adventure Cup website, with updated rankings. Want to see where everyone really went? Check out the live tracking replay! 👀😂
And now… X-Marathon 2027 is already in the making! 🔥 A linear course is planned for the last weekend of August as a warm up for the epic Alpine Quest Expedition Race in October.
Apparently, we didn't learn our lesson. 😎
