Sunday 9th August Instruction day
What a fantastic day we had today with 15 riders!
A big welcome to Evie who attended her very first pony club day !
We enjoyed ba****ck and even tackled an obstacle course ba****ck! – for many riders, this was their first experience riding ba****ck, and everyone rode so well !
We focused on improving our balance, core position, and learning how to determine if our horse was standing square.
Then we played some classic games like Musical Cones, Simon Says, Red Light Green Light, and the toilet paper game!
In our Horse Health session with Kristen from Mona Vale Veterinary Hospital we discovered how to assess if our horse is generally healthy, learned how to take their temperature, listened to their heartbeat, and recognized what healthy gut sounds are like. We also practiced how tightly we should bandage in case of an emergency. Our lovely horse model Bonnie enjoyed some carrots to say thanks !
Next, we embarked on our Scavenger Hunt!
With cryptic clues guiding us on an adventure around the showground, we had to decipher our clues, ride to the next station, complete our group tasks, and get our passports stamped for the next clue!
Our teams brushed up on their grooming equipment knowledge, met Larry, our Label Horse, identified parts of the horse, named components of their tack, completed team obstacles, and answered some fun horse trivia!
Big Thankyou to

A huge thankyou to everyone who helped out today , from leading horses , tacking and untacking horses, setting up , packing up , tidying the kitchen and all those other little jobs that help us get through the day ! Days like today wouldn't happen without the fantastic Gloucester Pony Club Community we have.
Our next Instruction day is Sunday 23rd August !
