Today’s Canadian Foursomes got underway with a shower of rain, but thankfully the blue sky soon appeared! A cool breeze made for some challenging conditions, but everyone enjoyed the day on the course.

⛳ Mooralla & Parklands Read Nichol Challenge

Today, Mooralla Golf Club hosted the Mooralla and Parklands Read Nichol Challenge, with players from both clubs enjoying a great day of golf and friendship.

It was a close contest, but Mooralla took out the shield, finishing with an average of 29 points, ahead of Parklands on 28.88 points. Congratulations to Mooralla on a well-deserved win! 🏆

NICHOL - READ SHIELD

The Nichol - Read Shield is the prize awarded to the club who wins the Annual Stableford Challenge Match between the Parklands and Mooralla Golf Clubs.

The winning club is the one that has the best average stableford score of their competing players. The event is open to men and women members of each club.The venue for this challenge is alternated between the competing clubs.

Geoff Nichol and Bruce Read were active members of Parklands Golf Club and Geoff joined Mooralla Golf Club as well for some years.

Both keen golfers, they were active in supporting Parklands’ and Mooralla’s invitational events, as well as other district club tournaments.

Following their passing, their families decided to organise a shield to be played for each year in their memory.

This year's challenge will be held at Mooralla Golf Club on Sunday 13 September. Players from both clubs are advised that you need to arrive at 11.30 am for a 12 noon hit-off.

What a lovely way to welcome the first day of spring! The ladies enjoyed plenty of sunshine, although a stiff breeze made conditions a little challenging on the course.

It was great to welcome Laura Hitchcock back amongst us — and what a return to form!
