Sportsmanship over the podium 🏆
The French & Spanish Combined Championships in Laragne, France wrapped up after 3 tasks.
While leading the last day, UK pilot Darren Brown watched fellow competitor Jochen Zeischka tumble and throw his reserve. In Darren's own words: he circled down over 800m to watch Jochen land and make sure he was OK. Jochen landed safely.
The organisers honoured the position Darren held before the voluntary loss of altitude, awarding him the Day win for Task 3 and 2nd Overall. Good on you Darren!

2nd Darren Brown (UK) — Moyes RX 3.5 Pro
3rd Christian Ciech (Italy)

1st and 2nd on Moyes. Well flown all round.

🏆 Two Moyes pilots on the podium at the British/Czech Championships!
Five days of flying at Laragne in the French Alps wrapped up the 2026 British/Czech Hang Gliding Championships. Congratulations to Christian Ciech on the overall win — and huge credit to our own Moyes Boys, Grant Crossingham (2nd) and Attila Bertok (3rd, Hungary), for taking two of the three podium spots.
On top of that, Grant claimed his 11th British Championship title — 8 in a row. 🔥
Grant gave a great shoutout to fellow pilot Gordon Rigg, who lent him a spare glider after Grant's own glider fell over while rigging on day three. Great sportsmanship from Gordon — the kind of thing that makes this community what it is.

📣 DATE UPDATE — Forbes Flatlands Hang Gliding Championships 2027

We've made a small but important change to this year's competition dates. The famous Parkes Elvis Festival kicks off on 6th January, booking out accommodation across the region including Forbes, which would have made it very difficult for pilots to find accommodation for the final days of the competition.

So we've moved everything forward to ensure pilots can secure accommodation for the full event without any hassle!

The skies over Forbes are calling — and this year we're flying into the New Year!

The Forbes Flatlands Hang Gliding Championships is back for 2027, kicking off with a practice day on Wednesday 30th December and running through to Thursday 7th January. An earlier start, a brand new year, and world-class hang gliding.

This event is more than just a competition — it's a celebration of flight, community, and the shared love of soaring. New pilots get to learn from seasoned pros. Veterans get to push their limits. Everyone gets to fly somewhere special. Whether you're stepping into Sport Class for the first time or you're a seasoned Open Class pilot chasing a world-class challenge, this is YOUR event. 🌏
