URGENT Call out for volunteers for Ironman triathlon weekend, 17-19 October.

The club has been requested to provide volunteers to assist with the operation of the transition area for the Ironman and 70.3 races next month – in exchange for which, the club will receive a cash donation. 😊
Roles include guiding competitors during timing chip collection and bike racking the day before the race (Saturday 17th) and when checking out on Sunday arvo/evening 18th/AM Monday 19th; and on raceday, monitoring the bike mount /dismount lines, controlling the pedestrian crossings at transition exit/entry and assisting competitors in the change tents. All roles are shown in the attached screenshot (assuming it displays OK!!)
The shifts vary in duration, but typically 4-5 hours; max about 6.
If you are not otherwise involved, why not be a part of this iconic event and gets a close-up view of the action – as well as helping raise much needed $$ for your club. It’s still running at loss (mainly due to the exorbitant cost of insuring our crit track and clubhouse) and if we can’t capitalise on such new revenue opportunities, the club’s long-term viability is in doubt. Note that we need to get at least 5 vollies to qualify for the IM donation.

With no racing in Port this weekend, we’d hoped to fire up a Burrawan crit, but we simply ran short on available officials. The good news is the fast and furious Thrumster crits are just around the corner, and there’s plenty to look forward to
