It is with genuine regret that the IRC Committee announces the cancellation of our 2026 Annual Dinner. With RSVP numbers falling more than 40% below expectations, we are unable to proceed without incurring a loss. Please know, this was an extremely difficult decision, made only after thorough consideration with the Circuits financial wellbeing front of mind.

Importantly, the dinner is the only part affected. Our Presentation of Tasmanian Champions will still go ahead later in the year and will likely be held alongside our Annual General Meeting. Further details will be shared once available.

We whole heartedly thank those members and friends who did RSVP and also the small handful who sent apologies. Your support is truly appreciated and noted.

For those who have paid in advance, please contact the IRC Secretary with your bank account details for a full reimbursement.

We sincerely apologise for any disappointment and extend our heartfelt thanks to all who continue to support the circuit and its events.

The Island Rodeo Circuit is proud to once again welcome the Ulverstone Twilight Rodeo Committee as the Jubilee Sponsor of the 2026 Tasmanian All Around Champion Cowgirl Award.

As one of the most prestigious accolades in Tasmanian rodeo, the title recognises the cowgirl who demonstrates outstanding versatility, consistency, and determination throughout the 2025/2026 Island Rodeo Circuit season, accumulating the highest points across multiple rodeo events.

Thanks to the generosity of the Ulverstone Twilight Rodeo Committee, the successful cowgirl will receive a magnificent Western Roping Trophy Saddle from Brazil, valued at more than $3,000, which will be presented at the IRC Presentation of Tasmanian Champions Dinner on 12 September 2026 at Quercus Park.

For decades, the Ulverstone Twilight Rodeo Committee has played a vital role in strengthening and promoting rodeo across Tasmania. Their support extends well beyond sponsorship, with the committee proudly hosting Tasmania's biggest and richest rodeo event, an occasion that has become a highlight of the state's rodeo calendar.

Since its establishment in 1962, the Ulverstone Twilight Rodeo has attracted thousands of spectators each year and continues to showcase some of the best rodeo competitors from Tasmania and around Australia. Combined with crowd-favourite attractions such as the Celebrity Barrel Race, the event delivers a truly memorable experience for competitors and spectators alike.

Offering in excess of $18,000 in prize money and maintaining strong connections with local community groups, the Ulverstone Twilight Rodeo Committee continues to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the future of rodeo in Tasmania.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the 2027 Ulverstone Rodeo on Saturday, 30 January 2027. It's an event not to be missed and promises another outstanding celebration of rodeo action, community spirit, and country hospitality.

The Island Rodeo Circuit is deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Nigel Schuuring, a man whose generosity, friendship and unwavering support of the rodeo community leaves an everlasting impact.

Nigel was the major sponsor of the IRC All Around Champion Cowboy Award for 2025 and again for the 2026 season through his business, Belrock Ag Pty Ltd. He was also a valued former sponsor of the Ulverstone Twilight Rodeo. His commitment to rodeo, horses and the people involved in the sport was well known and greatly appreciated by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A respected and renowned horseman, Nigel was a mate to more friends than most could ever imagine having. A true character, a legendary s**t stirrer and an all-round great bloke whose presence brought laughter, friendship and support wherever he went. It was an honour to have Nigel and Emily join us at last year's IRC presentation dinner, and we were looking forward to celebrating alongside them again this year. Sadly, that will not be the case.

Nigel's contribution to our community extended far beyond sponsorship. He was passionate about horses, passionate about people and passionate about preserving the spirit of true horsemanship. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, the friendships he forged and the knowledge and skills he so willingly shared with others.

The Island Rodeo Circuit extends its sincere condolences to Will, Hallie, Emily, and all of Nigel's family and friends.

The world has lost one of the great ones.

Rest peacefully, Nigel. You will be greatly missed and so fondly remembered.
