Longford Golf Club

Upcoming Championships & Events

The next few weeks are shaping up to be a very busy period of golf at Longford Golf Club, with the Men’s, Ladies’ and Veterans’ Championships all taking place, along with our regular competitions and the return of the popular Chicken Run.

Men’s Championships

For all members intending to play in the Men’s Championships, please ensure that you put your name down for the first three rounds.

A seeded draw will be conducted for the final round, based on the results of the opening rounds.

Important: If you are entering the Championships, you are required to pay for all four rounds prior to teeing off on the first day.

Ladies’ Championships

Ladies have the option of playing their Championship rounds on either:

Saturday/Sunday, or
Monday/Wednesday

For those choosing to play the Monday/Wednesday rounds, your Captain, Bette, will add your name to the booking sheet in seeded handicap groups.

A single event will also be conducted in conjunction with the Saturday/Sunday Championship rounds for members who are not competing in the Men's or Ladies’ Championships.

Weekend Social Golf

For our weekend social golfers, the course will be available for play from approximately 2:30pm onwards on Saturday and Sunday, following the Championship events.

Chicken Run

The popular Chicken Run gets underway on Wednesday, 7th October.

9-hole competition
Tee off from 2:30pm onwards
Open to members and guests
Come along, enjoy a few holes and have a great afternoon!
Upcoming Events

Below is the full list of events scheduled at Longford Golf Club through to the last week of October.

We look forward to seeing plenty of members on the course over what promises to be a fantastic few weeks of golf.

ECLECTIC COMPETITION – 26 SEPTEMBER 2026

Today’s Eclectic competition was played in rather uncomfortable conditions, with a bracing south-westerly wind persisting throughout the day. Nevertheless, a strong field of 55 combatants took to the course and battled it out.

Well done to all those players who embraced the AFL footy colours theme and donned their finest team gear. Needless to say, there weren’t too many sleeveless guernseys on display!

🏆 SWING INTO SPRING RAFFLE
The “Swing into Spring” Raffle was drawn prior to presentations this afternoon, with congratulations going to our lucky winners:

🥇 1st – Debbie Heron
2027 Membership Fee covered (excluding Capitation)

🥈 2nd – Brian Harvey
$100 Longford Golf Club Voucher

🥉 3rd – Phil “Fuzzy” Williams
$50 Longford Golf Club Voucher

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the raffle once again this year. Approximately $800 worth of tickets were sold, which is a fantastic result for the club.

Todays results are at the end of this post.

👏 THANK YOU
Thanks to Steve, Debbie, Cath and Craig for all the work behind the scenes today. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

🦅 SHOT OF THE DAY
And finally, make sure you catch Michael von Stieglitz out on the course — he hasn’t been able to wipe the grin off his face after playing the shot of a lifetime on the 5th, holing out for an impressive eagle!

Way to go, baby! 🦅⛳

Cheers,
JB

JB is off cruising around Japan for a few weeks of well-earned R&R.

Have a great time, JB — we’ll make sure this ship doesn’t sink in your absence!

Greg Berry was the winner of the Jackpot Putting competition today, however unfortunately he left his putt in the wilderness, pleasing those whose ticket may well be drawn in the ensuing weeks to putt for what is now approaching a Jackpot of $500 big ones.

Here is the incriminating evidence.

19/09/2026

A strong field of 58 players set out today to contest the “Joker Round” kindly sponsored and run by Rob Winter and Cath McQuie. The tension created by the player shackled with the Joker Ball certainly created another layer of complexity to today’s round.

The results are in the poster below.

Thanks to Cath, Craig, Steve and Debbie for all your support today.

A reminder that next week’s Grand Final and footy colours dress up Eclectic event is a 9.00am shot gun start.

See you out where there still remains a small contingent of members with an interest in this year’s footy finals.
Cheers, JB.
