We are here to introduce to our board members and people around the club over the next few weeks lucky first member is - Michael Andersch, our dedicated treasurer here at the Kingborough Bowls and Community Club!
๐ **Bowls Journey**:
Michael's journey into the world of bowls began when he was just 23 years old in 1985. After a season of carpet bowls with the Commonwealth Bank, he was invited to join the Derwent BC by club patron Geoff Collins. Borrowing his dadโs bowls and shoes, he quickly fell in love with the game!

When asked about his bowls hero, Michael proudly mentions Kelsey Cottrell, a true inspiration for many in the sport.
๐ค **Favorite Aspect**:
What Michael loves most about playing bowls? The amazing community! โJoining the club means you instantly have 100 new friends,โ he shares, along with the challenge of aiming for that perfect delivery.
๐ช **Roles at the Club**:
As our treasurer, Michael wears many hats - from umpiring, volunteering, and even writing grant applications to managing club finances. He's been part of the Premier League team since the 2022/23 season!
๐ฅ **Pride in Achievements**:
Among his many accomplishments, Michael proudly boasts two State Pennants in the last four years and representing the South in the Seniors.
โจ **Favorite Memory**:
One of his most cherished memories? โMarking the Men's Gold Match in the 2018 Commonwealth Games,โ a truly unforgettable experience!

For anyone thinking about starting this fantastic sport, Michael says: โThink of your body as a machine, and aim for a consistent delivery with a low slow flowโsmall adjustments make all the difference!โ
