NEWCASTLE GRIFFINS – 2026 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Our 2026 AGM will be held immediately before this year’s Presentation Night at Mayfield Bowling Club.

This is an important AGM as we continue building grass roots rugby in 2027.

COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN

Members can nominate themselves or another person for a committee position.

Nominations are open for:

• President
• Vice President
• Treasurer / Public Officer
• Secretary
• Communications Officer
• Culture Officer
• Sponsorship Officer
• Game Day Officer

Nominations close Friday 9 October.

WHO CAN VOTE?

Voting is open to eligible Club members aged 18+, including:

• 2026 registered players
• 2026 registered volunteers
• Life Members
• Griffins Legends Club Members

The 2026 Griffins Legends Club membership fee has been set by the Committee at $100. Anyone wishing to become a financial Legends Club Member can request membership through the form below.

We are excited to announce the Griffins venue partner for the coming year is mayfield_bowlo. Thanks to their generosity the Mayfield Bowling Club have provided one of the most significant sponsorship deals in the clubs history at a time of significant growth for us.

Their partnership will help fund and support new rugby teams including senior men’s, women’s sevens and juniors. This will see the Griffins grow and thrive in the years to come. We look forward to supporting the bowlo and thank them for investing in local community sport.

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank The Beauford Hotel for their support of the Griffins across 2025 and 2026 seasons, and their ongoing commitment to sporting clubs in the local area.

Griffins name their team to take on Cooks Hill Brown Snakes Rugby Union Club. Unfortunately due to sustained injury the squad is unable to field a second team this week previously scheduled for Townson Oval v Merewether Carlton.

The Snakes have been a bogey team all year for our boys with previous matches across both squads resulting in:

53-5 W Cooks Hill
70-0 W Cooks Hill
46-0 W Cooks Hill
48-10 W Cooks Hill

Despite big improvements shown in past weeks our boys are still massive underdogs in this game!

Wish the boys luck in the comments, or even better - get down to at Empire Park 6:20PM tomorrow for the Griffs penultimate game of the 2026 season and cheer them loud and proud!
