"26th Feb - On this day in 1972 Alex Higgins won the World Championship at his first attempt, beating John Spencer 37-32 in the final. At the age of 22 years and 345 days, Alex was then the youngest ever winner of the title, a record retained until Hendry's win in 1990."

OTD in 1983 Alex Higgins came from 7-0 down to win 16-15 against his arch-rival Steve Davis in the UK Championship Final at Preston Guild Hall.
