🔴🔵🟠 KYABRAM DISTRICT LEAGUE 2023 FIXTURE ANNOUNCEMENT 🔴🔵🟠
The Apprenticeship Factory Kyabram District League announced their fixture for season 2023 with football and netball set to kick off on the 15th of April, which is the week after the Easter break.
KDL President Fraser Kerrins said “2022 was a fantastic season for the league. The competition throughout both football and netball was great to see and ultimately, we reached our end goal to crown new premiers in each grade. Moving into 2023, the league is excited to return to the field and courts after Easter”.
The 2023 season will continue to see each club in the KDL play one home Sunday game and one away Sunday game to help ensure umpire's are able to be appointed to all senior football games. Having Sunday games also affords clubs the opportunity to host a finals-like atmosphere during the season.
12 out of the 16 rounds will host a minimum of one Sunday game with a further two rounds being split rounds. Rounds 8 and 11 will be the only full allotments of Saturday games.
Changes have also been made after the KDL AGM to the finals structure with majority of clubs opting to return to a top 6 as opposed to a top 8 after the trial in 2022.
League Operations Manager Julian Perta said “The format of the top 8 worked well in allowing two extra teams a chance to compete during the finals series and gave more clubs the opportunity to host a final, which was a terrific showcase of our league. With a total of 14 clubs, a top 6 format seems to be a good option”.
The finals series is set to commence on the 26th of August with the Grand Final scheduled for the 16th of September.
