Day 2 of in stunning Melbourne has fired up with another jam-packed program today of engaging and exciting talks spanning from first nations and fishing participation and diversity, keynotes from Stan Lui, Craig Copeland and Ingrid van Putten.

Return ‘Em Right will be leading a workshop at 10:30 on handling fish to reduce mortality, and Valerio Sbragaglia is up this afternoon at 2:50pm to lead a workshop on integration of digital recreational fisheries data for research & monitoring.

Also today, the exciting and much anticipated results of the National Recreational Fishing Survey will be released as part of our special session at 1pm.

Today is guaranteed to generate much discussion, ideas and plant the seeds for future growth and opportunity in the rec fishing sphere.

Key messages for building a bridge and connecting anglers with science to influence positive social norms and practices around fish handling: words matter; build from both sides to enable communication and trust; harness angler-led science with questions from anglers informing research; use consistent and persistent messaging.
