The Gain Line Report from Gain Line Analytics is one of the sharpest insights into rugby analytics and a valued contributor to our RCV Clubhouse events.

This edition tackles something every club, coach, and selector thinks they understand…but probably doesn't. 👇

📌 Takeaway 1: Experience isn't what you think it is. More experienced squads don't automatically perform better. In fact, the data across Super Rugby shows that where experience is developed matters far more than how much of it a team has. Teams built on internal development and strong pathways consistently outperform those who "top up" with external experience, no matter how decorated those recruits are.

📌 Takeaway 2: Cohesion beats credentials. Using their Cohesion Analytics framework, Gain Line shows that teams with high shared understanding (developed over time, together) outperform high-experience but low-cohesion sides. The Crusaders, Leinster, and Penrith Panthers aren't dominant by accident; they're dominant by design.

RUGBY ROAD TRIPS TO BRISBANE! 🏉✈️

G'day all - a small group of us are heading up to Brisbane on March 14th to watch the Reds v Waratahs match, and we'd love to have more of you join us!

There's a good chance Jeremy's son Josh will be playing for the Reds (fitness permitting), and Tim's son Harry playing for the Waratahs. Both Jeremy and Tim will be part of our travelling group, so it should be a ripper of a day!

We're staying at the Mercure Spring Hill if you'd like to join us there. You'll need to sort your own travel and accommodation, but I can help with match ticketing 🎟️

This is a first for us! People often say they'd like to travel as a group to watch games, so let's see if there are any takers!

BONUS: We're also looking at heading up for the Reds v Chiefs game on Friday, May 8th, if there's interest.
