WELL SAID 👏🏻👏🏻 Please read…

Pickleball: Be Respectful

We all know pickleball is growing. With this growth, and for all those who will be new to this great game, there comes a certain degree of respect. Pickleball can be played by everyone! And each individual has their own reason for playing. Activity, health, building friendships and renewed competitiveness are only a few of the many reasons. Some people are just beginners. Some are accomplished professionals. In between, people play for different reasons. In order for this game to continue to flourish we must have an understanding and respect for those at every level.

Let me explain. There is nothing wrong with a person who just wants to play pickleball to have fun, get some exercise and maybe meet new friends. They aren’t too concerned, or despondent, about their wins or loses. Their improvement may happen over an extended period of time. When they leave the courts though, they are content and happy. They love talking about pickleball. It’s a beautiful level!

Next, there are players who want to improve their game so they don’t always lose. They may take a lesson, drill on occasion and try to keep getting better. They acquire new friends who play at their level. When they leave the court they may be happy or wish they had played better. They can’t wait to talk about pickleball and they love the game. This is also a beautiful level!

Then there are those who play pickleball to compete. They take lessons and study pickleball. They want to win almost every game. They may enter tournaments or strive to reach the highest rating for their age level. Many are amateurs and some are professionals. They can’t wait to play again. They talk pickleball all the time. This level of pickleball is also beautiful!

Each of these levels is BEAUTIFUL for the reasons I have mentioned. The sport will continue to flourish as long as we have this understanding. It’s now up to each and everyone one of us to understand why people play this game and be truly respectful of their reason.
