Established in 1978, DWA has assisted thousands of individuals with disabilities to participate in winter sports annually. Not for Profit Organisation.

Established in 1978 as the Australian Disabled Skiers Federation, we are now known as Disabled Wintersport Australia (DWA). The organisation has assisted thousands of individuals with disabilities to participate in winter sports annually. From its programs some of the world’s finest alpine skiers have emerged recording victories at the highest level of international competition. The organisations

members range from recreational skiers to Australia’s Winter Paralympians. DWA is an organisation with a national perspective taking responsibility for development of disability winter sport in Australia. Through building the capability and capacity of a National Sport System, including accountability at the National level, we provide members with technically sound sports programs, policies and service. DWA’s mission is:

“To promote and foster the advancement of participation by people with a disability in wintersport both in Australia and overseas”. Our Vision is:

“The equality of opportunity for people with disabilities to participate at all levels in the winter sport of their choice.”

DWA is The National Sporting Organisation (NSO) body responsible for Adaptive Winter Sport in Australia. We have developed Sporting Pathways at the social, active recreational and elite level. They currently include:
Winter Paralympic preparation pathway
Special Olympic Australian Athlete Development Pathway
Australian Military Athlete Development Pathway
Australian Professional Snowsport Instructors Pathway
Volunteer Adaptive Snow Sport Guide Development Pathway

DWA members range from recreational skiers to Australia’s Winter Paralympians. Membership to the organisation entitles membership holders to concessions on lift passes and private lessons at all ski resorts in Australia. It also gives them access to an extensive range of adaptive ski equipment, discounted accessible accommodation, and a range of skill development, sport and recreational programs. 2026 VICTORIA INTERSCHOOLS MULTICLASS SNOWSPORTS EVENT!

The Multiclass Sports Association - Victorian Snowsports Event returns for its 14th year, bringing together skiers and snowboarders with intellectual or physical impairments for an unforgettable experience on the slopes.

📅 Monday 17th - Wednesday 19 August 2026

📍 Mt. Buller

The Multiclass Snowsports Championship race is a Giant Slalom event that gives primary and secondary school students the opportunity to compete at the Snow Australia Interschools in their own race, while being part of the wider championship atmosphere. It’s a chance for athletes of all abilities to experience the excitement of racing, build confidence, and connect with a supportive snowsports community.

In the lead-up to race day, participants can also take part in a 2-day development clinic (17–18 August) with Mt Buller ski school instructors, with additional support from experienced Disabled Wintersport Australia guides – a fantastic opportunity to build skills and prepare for the race.

Adult athletes with intellectual impairment or Autism are also invited to take part through the Special Olympics Australia pathway, creating an inclusive alpine racing experience for athletes of all ages.

Since being founded in 2013, the Multiclass Event has continued to grow, creating meaningful opportunities for young athletes with disability to be part of Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships and experience the magic of alpine racing.

Whether you're a returning competitor or considering the event for the first time, we can’t wait to see you on the mountain in 2026!
