Our little choreographers✨ This week in class our Minis & Petites were tasked with growing their understanding of choreography and improvisation!
They started by identifying steps from their syllabus work and sorting them into two groups: stationary steps and traveling steps!
They then explored how those movements could be connected, rearranged and combined to create their own short dances, encouraging them to think beyond simply remembering steps, but actually how a dance is constructed💭
This activity supports their exam preparation and improvisation practice, by helping them to understand that improvisation isn’t about making something up randomly. It’s about using the steps and techniques they already know to make creative choices!
It was lovely to see students sharing ideas, problem solving and supporting eachother throughout the process. More than just syllabus work, but building their creativity, confidence and musicality too!🎵🤩
