🐴Diagonal hindlimb stretch

This movement gently brings the hind leg across the horse’s midline, creating a stretch through the lateral (outside) structures of the hindquarter and hip, while also encouraging mobility and range of motion through the pelvis and hindlimb.

It can help to:
🔹️Encourage hip and pelvic mobility
🔹️Lengthen and relax the lateral hip and
hindquarter musculature.
🔹️Improve hindlimb range of motion
🔹️Encourage the horse to move the hind
Leg more freely across its body
🔹️Address restrictions associated with
tightness through the gluteal and
surrounding soft tissues
🔹️Provide a gentle lateral/rotational
stretch through the hindquarter.
It can be a great way to assess and encourage comfortable range of motion, particularly in horses that feel restricted or tight through the hindquarters.
Slow, controlled movement is key — never forcing the limb beyond the horse's comfortable range.
