We don't think starting gets enough credit for how genuinely hard it is.
Walking into a new environment, not knowing the equipment, not knowing the people, unsure what your body can even do right now — and showing up anyway. That takes real courage, even if it doesn't feel like a big moment from the outside.

If you've already taken that step with us, we see it, and we're genuinely glad you did. If you haven't yet, please know that the first session is almost always the hardest part. Everything after that tends to get easier, because you're no longer walking in blind — you know the space, the people, and roughly what to expect.

Whatever stage you're at, the courage it takes to start (or to keep going) doesn't go
unnoticed here.

Last call for the Monday 14 September round of Strong, Optimised.

If you've been losing weight and quietly wondering whether you're losing the right thing — this is the six weeks that answers it. Properly, with numbers, not a guess in a mirror.

6 spots left. Closes Sunday 13 September.

Something happens around week three or four.

People stop caring about the scale. Not because it's stopped moving — but because they've seen their scan, and the number on the scale has become the least interesting thing about their week.

That's the shift I'm actually after. Six weeks isn't long enough to change everything. It's more than long enough to stop guessing.

8 spots left for Monday 14 September. Comment STRONG and I'll send the details.

Here's some nutrition advice that's a little less exciting than most, but far more useful: you don't need a complicated meal plan, you need three or four meals you can make without thinking.

Pick a small handful of simple, protein-rich meals you genuinely enjoy — the kind you can throw together even on your busiest, most exhausted days. Rotate through them, add whatever vegetables you have on hand, and that's genuinely enough for most people most of the time.

The reason elaborate meal plans so often fail isn't that they're wrong in theory — it's that they're impossible to sustain once life gets busy, which for most of us is most of the time.

Simple, repeatable and boring (in a good way) beats complicated and impressive, because you'll actually still be doing it in six months.

What's your go-to "too tired to think" meal that you know you can always fall back on?

Not local? The online round is the same six weeks — same protein coaching, same training, same check-in with me, over video instead of across the desk.

You choose how we measure you:

→ Come into Bentleigh whenever you can and get the full body composition scan, same as everyone else.
→ Or track from home with measuring tape and scales. No scan, but we watch your waist and your lifts instead — and waist going down while your lifts go up tells us the same story.

I'd rather be straight with you than pretend a number I can't measure. What I won't do is have you guess at a body fat reading on a bathroom scale and then coach you off it.

Spots are shared between in-person and online, and there are 15 in this first release. Starts Monday 14 September.

DM me OPTIMISED and I'll send you the details.

If the thought of walking into a gym has ever stopped you from starting — you are
far from the only one, and you are absolutely allowed to be a beginner.

Every person confidently lifting heavy today started exactly where you are right now,
unsure of form, weight, or where anything is kept. And here's the thing most people don't realise: nobody in a gym is watching you as closely as you imagine. Most people are focused on their own workout — and the ones who do notice a new face are usually just glad you showed up.

This exact intimidation is a big part of why we built Strong Bayside around small group coaching rather than a big open gym floor. You're never thrown in the deep end.

Every exercise, every piece of equipment, every rep gets properly explained before you're expected to do it.

If this has been the thing holding you back, we'd love to be the place where that changes.

What a week in Strong, Optimised actually looks like:

Your check-in day — scan and a chat. Fifteen minutes. We look at your numbers together, I ask you three questions, and we change one thing. One. Not five.

The rest of the week — you train three times, hit your protein most days, and tick five things off in the app. That last bit takes about ten seconds.

That's genuinely it. No 6am bootcamp. No juice. No 30-day shred.

It's deliberately boring. Boring is what still works in week five, when the exciting stuff has been abandoned for a fortnight.

Culturally, midlife often gets framed as the beginning of decline — the years where things start winding down. We'd like to offer a different framing: this is a new chapter, not an ending, and you have real say in what goes in it.

Yes, your body is changing, and that deserves acknowledgment and support, not dismissal.

But so much else about this life stage tends to change too — often for the better. More self knowledge than you had at 25. More willingness to set boundaries. Less time spent on things (and people) that don't serve you. A clearer sense of what actually matters.

Strength training is one concrete way to move through this chapter feeling powerful and in control of your body, rather than like something is simply happening to you.
Your story isn't winding down here. It's just turning the page.

What's something about this stage of life that's actually been better than you expected?

The 20-inch box survived. She did not. 😂

This is what "I'm fine, just give me a sec" looks like at Strong Bayside. Full starfish on the gym floor, one leg parked on a wall ball because lifting it back up was not in the budget, arms out like a snow angel, staring at the ceiling questioning every decision that led to that last round.

10 out of 10. Zero regrets. Would absolutely do it again tomorrow.

If you've ever had a full main-character-lying-on-the-floor moment after a session… congratulations, you're one of us. 🙋‍♀️

That's not defeat, by the way — that's the feeling of a session you actually left everything in. Wear it proudly.

Thanks for the good times!!
