Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) heals the body by restoring the natural balance of Qi (vital energy) and opposing forces like Yin and Yang. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, TCM views the body holistically—aiming to fix root causes of imbalance through natural energy pathways known as meridians. Health conditions we treat include anxiety, migraines, dizziness, IBS, allergies, eczema, acne, musculoskeletal pain, infertility and much more.
The Melbourne Apothecary
We hear your resolve - that your health is more important now than ever before. Let’s do this. Tog
The change from autumn into winter has certainly been noticeable in Melbourne lately. ❄️
In this reel, I’m sharing a point that I’ve been using frequently in clinic during this seasonal transition: LU-9 (Taiyuan).
Located on the thumb side of the wrist, LU-9 is the Yuan-Source point of the Lung meridian and is considered an important point within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
In TCM theory, LU-9 is traditionally used in presentations involving the Lung system and is often selected as part of a broader, individualised treatment approach during the cooler months.
You can gently massage this point on both wrists for 1–2 minutes as a simple mindfulness and self-care practice.
Remember, acupuncture and Chinese Medicine treatments are tailored to the individual, and what is appropriate for one person may not be appropriate for another.
Have you been feeling the seasonal shift lately? 🍂➡️❄️ Let me know in the comments.
With Love,
Dr. Emily Borozan

Hair thinning and shedding can feel confusing especially when you’re told everything looks “normal” but your hair continues to change.
In clinic, we often see hair health as a reflection of what’s happening internally. Stress, nourishment, hormonal shifts and overall wellbeing can all influence the hair cycle.
Rather than chasing quick fixes, understanding the bigger picture is key.
If you’ve noticed increased shedding, thinning or changes in texture, our naturopath is here to support you from within.

Echinacea is an immune modulating herb and has a broad range of actions, working in the integumentary, lymphatic, respiratory, immune and gastrointestinal systems.
Fun fact: A good quality echinacea will cause a tingling sensation in the mouth when taken as liquid herbal medicine.
Our naturopaths are leaning on Echinacea to support clients with their immunity this winter.
Some of things I recommend for my acne clients as a clinical naturopath:
-Whole foods over processed foods
-30g of protein with every meal
-2-3L of water
-Sorry, we might need to cut out dairy
-Blood pathology testing including hormones and gut microbiome mapping
-Increase vegetable intake and aim for 2 pieces of fruit a day

Doing everything “right” with your skincare… but still breaking out?
Persistent acne isn’t just skin deep. It reflects internal imbalances.
At The Melbourne Apothecary x MECCA Bourke St, we look beyond topical products to support your skin in a targeted, individualised way because real change comes from addressing the root cause, not just the surface or the symptoms.
If your skin isn’t responding the way you expect, it may be time to look a little deeper. Healthy, radiant skin starts from the inside out.
Why naturopaths love prescribing liquid herbs.
