How do I rest?
Following on yesterdays post, I'll be sharing what I do on my rest day, along with a few tips and tricks!
To get started, my routine is all over the place (As is everyone's you're not alone), as a result I cycle through a variety of techniques to help me relax and reset.
As seen in the picture, I do love an ice bath (That's a lie they're cold and uncomfortable) but I do love the feeling after one!
A few of my common other rest day activities are:
1 - A relaxing walk
2 - A warm bath
3 - A good book and a lie down
Slow down and take a breath, future you will love you for it!

Rest days are just as important as your workout days!
Let me explain,
Rest days allow the muscles to replenish their glycogen stores, reducing muscle fatigue and repairing muscle fibres.
Overexercising puts a significant strain on the muscles and increases the risk of injuries.
So make sure you take at least 1 day off per week!

What makes me happy?
Following on from yesterdays question to you all, I thought I'd share my feelings towards the topic.
As you've probably noticed with the multitudes of posts with a sunset/sunrise at the beach, I'm a beach lover. So much so, that every morning at 6am I get up, drive 25 minutes to the beach just to grab a nice hot soy latte and a freezing cold swim. Yes I'm that weirdo!
Although we are stuck in lockdown here if Victoria, I believe it's important to take the time to make yourself happy even if it means getting out of your comfort zone!

What makes you happy?
This important question is often overlooked as we get caught in the day to day of life. So, take a second for yourself today and figure out how to make yourself happy, even if it's just for a short moment.

Meditation and Mindfulness tend to go hand in hand. So what's the difference?
Mindfulness is the act of being aware, noticing and paying attention to feelings, thoughts and behaviour. Mindfulness can be practiced anywhere, anytime by simply showing up fully and being engaged.
Whereas, Meditation is taking the time to stop and clear your thoughts and really take in all the sensations of your environments (both internal and external).
Personally, I enjoy meditating but I don't do it everyday (that's life). However, every single day I am constantly improving my ability to be Mindful.

The immediate shock of the cold can feel uncomfortable and somewhat painful, but soon after, there is an internal switch that is triggered whereby discomfort is replaced by a sense of euphoria and mental clarity.
Discomfort is a building block of growth.
