Late Bloomer Cycling

Weakest year in sport since I started cycling😕 I couldn’t finish the challenge this year.

Things I learned this year:
- Climate acclimation is the real deal. Especially here in MEL where it’s usually cold, and super dry when it’s hot.
- No actual training for the year did not help. Our weekend rides were usually at a relaxed paced, with distances not exceeding 60.
- Sleep is important! 🤣
- My steel gravel bike is not an ideal machine to use for festive 500 type of rides, especially without training.

In conclusion: I THINK I NEED AN ENDURANCE BIKE?! 🤣

Oh well, let’s do better this 2023!

Day 1 !

Is the universe telling us to ride the great ocean road? 😲

No space in our unit, so we used the bike room to swap out the parts from my old build into my Jamis Renegade:

- Ritchey VentureMax WCS
- Redshift suspension stem
- Redshift suspension seatpost
- Ergon SM Pro

Steering feels a bit tighter, fit is a bit more comfortable, though weight feels more towards the rear.

Cheap replacement silicone bands for my Coros Pace 2. Feels a bit premium though.

Slowly re-starting my cycling journey here. All that’s left to buy are bike locks and winter gear.⁣

I finally got my first bike here in MEL.

It’s a Jamis Bikes Renegade S4 which I got from BikeZone Fitzroy.

It’s basic, steel, and has entry level components but the ride feel is so nice!
