I have been slack on the updates.
Tonight, your heroes once again go to into the goodnight in a semi final. After one of the heaviest off season signing sprees in our history, the rebuild was on as the boys said goodbye to some of our foundation superstars. With half the team on tour or on a sick bed.. can we pull off one final magic trick to scrape into a grand final before the cavalry returns. Keep the heroes in your prayers tonight as we go head to head with our oldest enemy the wolfpack. After a season that involved a 4 in a row win streak, once again it all comes down to 40 minutes in the muck. Who wins the slop, wins the war.

When specifically can we play the trl men's division 1 grand final? Dan Andrews you need to answer the big question.

Some inspirational words from the skipper about the big dance (whenever we eventually get to play it).

Government conspiracy to keep the heroes from winning a premiership

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES. well the boys scrapped the last three games to climb into 4th spot with some great footy being played by all and even a 4 try match from Hewy (weird that's been mentioned)

Anyway... these Aussie heroes, these golden boys, snuck their way into the semi final. One v Four on the ladder. The clean pair of heels were outrageous favourites with the bookies and the trl pundits the world over, even sportsbet did one of their early payout bedsh*ts. Whether it was the Olympic spirit, the underdog fight, or the fact the number one team were a few players short... magic happened on a hallowed chunk of turf next to an energy powerplant in richmond.

Connell played truly the game of his life. Setting up try after try reminiscent of a golden era Michael Diamond. The pill was his berretta shotgun and wingers in space was the clay pigeon as time after time he sent the boys over for tries.

Big red Ben Knight channelled pole vaulter Steve Ho**er as the flying ginger launched into the air for afl tries. Never underestimate a fired up big aussie ranga in a sporting arena.

Zack Dyer was looking every part of young sprint sensation Rohan Browning as he carved thru the middle for a length of the field try that made the nation stand up and take notice.

Perro channelled that BMX bloke Logan as he pulled some dazzling queensland gold medal trick plays.

Gambo was reminiscent of a shirvo the big hog flopping away as he scorched earth for two pacey tries.

Matt Davey was like the hockeyroos clincial in attack and resolute in defence.

Matt Want had a grand return similar to when Geoff huegill got crazy chunk and came back to light up the pool.

Hewy, proudly guiding the boys around like Matt Wearn in that little lazer. Steering the ship biding time sitting on grubbers and cruising in for the Gold.

A win that instilled pride and passion. For all the fans in lockdown. For all the kids doing it tough wondering if there are any heroes left.. this one was for you. 7-3 winners.
Shout out to clean pair of Heels, tough for them having to get fill ins for a semi final after a dominant season... but we will take it.

A monumental task faces the club as we take on New Era. A team that torched us only 2 games ago. But if you dare to dream... get on board this train. 8.15PM Next Monday. Come on down.

If someone said Hewys Heroes in a div 1 grand final? What would people think of that?

23/06/2021

(I forgot a photo so here's some grainy footage of us defending our line)
Footys back after another lil enforced Covid break. Up against the best blokes in the league The Benchwarmers (I'm a simp). Stewing on a loss for three weeks the boys were fired up, however some big outs including Ben Knight who "had to pack for a tour" cmon mate how hard is it to make sure the seas shepherd sticker is still on your guitar. This saw the return of firebrand Maddy & the always reliable Warren. From the get go the heroes were tracing hard on our line to keep the borders shut. Eventually the Benchwarmers went over for two lovely tries. The 'covid' heroes worked hard to ensure these two cases didn't blow out to a cluster. Warren put in a grubber and hewy slammed it down for his first try of the season. The try was the shot in the arm vaccine we needed to stop the rot. Matt and Daniel Connell Comedy were superspreading the pill all over the park. The benchwarmers kicking game was pure class with Nathan scoring one of the best afl tries we've seen. (To be fair it was over the top of Hewy... big man chipping over the 5 foot bloke) a few beautiful kick tries saw the heroes trying to combat a new deadly strain. Perro, Maddy and Dyer were gold standard in the track and trace, making touches everywhere. However the slippery track saw us all doing a Dan Andrews on the stairs impression. Matt and Warren combined for a lovely grubber try at the end. But the damage had been done. Going down 6-2. A familiar circumstance as the heroes season sits on a knife edge. ON THAT NOTE we are in a similar situation to the mighty Maroons. This Sunday is an official Hewys Heroes sponsored Origin party at Coopers Inn pub. Open 6.30 just for us. ALL WELCOME. Official meet and greets with all the players and Jersey signings. This is an important team building exercise as we go into camp for Mondays do or die clash.
