I translated the following English version of ‘The Little Prince’ by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry - ‘The Little Prince, 1943’ in Marathi, inspired by my batchmate of MA English from Pune University.
English version: (Seems to be a translation of some other/ unfamiliar language.)
*********************+
For some, who are travelers, the stars are guides. For others they are no more than little lights in the sky. For others, who are scholars, they are problems… But all these stars are silent. You-You alone will have stars as no one else has them… In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars will be laughing when you look at the sky at night. You, only you, will have stars that can laugh! And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me… You will always be my friend. You will want to laugh with me. And you will sometimes open your window, so, for that pleasure… It will be as if, in place of the stars, I had given you a great number of little bells that knew how to laugh.”

My free translation in Marathi follows:

Kite flying - I could not believe in the following via google search:
*****************
‘Believe it or not, it is an offence in Victoria to fly a kite to 'the annoyance of any person' in a public place with a maximum penalty of a $777 fine. Not withstanding this law, there are plenty of places in Melbourne to fly a kite where you won't even get close to annoying anyone, even very grumpy people’.
********************************
I recall my childhood when we enjoyed flying kites for hours and hours together with my brothers and cousins. After reading the above, I felt like sharing a following monologue as a child to establish how lessons for life are learned from playtimes like these.

A lesson learned
By Tribhashi Consultant
I have been working in the translation industry for more than thirty years now, with no major issues till the beginning of 2021.
Indians, especially from the Maharashtrian community living in Mumbai/Pune have ditched me after sending a draft of their assigned jobs. As usual, I sent them 'the set procedure' as soon as I got the query. The important part of that document, as I mention is - 'Unless I work on a draft, I cannot give the exact quote', simply because the translation from Indian languages to English has a totally different word count and complexity of language in the legal documents is at times quite challenging.
Two clients, one from Mumbai and the other one from Pune gave me a draft of their own translation where I had to edit a lot to make it practical for the standards expected in Australia as they were planning to enroll in various courses here. After I sent them a draft with the exact charges, they stopped responding and did not pay the dues. Even after several reminders they totally ignored my emails. Professionals like those types behave unprofessionally when it comes to payment in Australian dollars... (maybe). Have you had any experience like this? Or do you know of any methods I can use to recover the dues?
I used to believe in the integrity of individuals but no more! A lesson I learned at the loss of $300.00 is, to demand advance payment from overseas clients, no matter where they come from. However, no Australian client has ditched me so far, but do you expect advance payment from every client?
Please do respond, especially if you are from any agency or a practicing translator... I may have to change my practice...
