We are absolutely thrilled to announce the signing of Dishan Malalasekera to the Bears!
An established all-rounder who consistently impacts the game with both bat and ball, Dishan is a three-time Senior Club Champion at his previous club, which he successfully captained all the way to a Grand Final appearance last season. His extensive resume also includes over six years of top-tier Premier Cricket experience, including playing alongside our very own Jade Christensen.
Dishan will also be stepping into the role of our Specialist Fielding Coach this season to bring some new drills and intensity to our training sessions.

🐻 Welcome To The Bears, Janaka Deegodagamage 🐻
We are absolutely thrilled to announce Janaka Deegodagamage as the new Senior Men’s Head Coach of the Deepdene Bears Cricket Club!
Janaka brings over 20 years of high-performance coaching experience across senior men’s, women’s, and junior pathways. As an ICC-accredited Global Level 3 coach, his resume speaks for itself. He joins us with an extensive background coaching in elite and sub-elite environments, including:
• Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association (VSDCA)
• Victorian Premier Women’s Cricket
• Victorian Turf Cricket Association (VTCA)
• Sri Lankan Premier Division and the Sri Lanka Cricket High Performance Centre

Thank you, Ruwi 🐻🏏
The Deepdene Bears would like to say a massive thank you and farewell to Ruwi Ekanayake, as he moves on to his next chapter.
Ruwi has been an absolute standout for the club, consistently delivering with both bat and ball over his 50 matches in the Bears colours. During his time with us, he amassed 807 runs at an average of 19.68 and took 67 wickets at an outstanding 16.82.
We especially want to highlight his unbelievable 2024/25 campaign, earning a well-deserved spot in the Wright Shield Team of the Season and taking out the league bowling average along with a Man of the Match performance in the Grand Final against EMT.
We wish Ruwi all the best for the future.
