Growing pains? Check these two areas first.

For young athletes, the knee and heel can take a lot of stress while the body is growing.

Three simple ways to keep things moving:
➡️ Foam rolling
➡️ Cycling
➡️ Swimming

And don’t automatically reach for stretching when pain shows up.
Pain that persists should be assessed, not pushed through.

If you’re raising an active child and want to better understand their growing body, follow along. I’ll be sharing more from nearly 30 years in sports medicine.

You stretch for two weeks, feel great, stop, and a month later the tightness is back.

That is not because the stretching failed. Most of the range you gain comes from your nervous system learning to relax its protection, and it forgets just as quickly when you stop.

In 27 years of practice, Kusal has seen this pattern more often than he can count.

Mobility works like a toothbrush, not a tow truck. A few minutes a day keeps the range you have.

This week's newsletter shows you a simple daily routine.

Pain doesn't always affect your training in the same way.

What matters is how it's affecting your movement, what you can tolerate, and where you are in your recovery. The approach needs to reflect that, rather than treating every injury the same way.

If you want to better understand pain, injuries and how your body responds to training, follow along. I'll be sharing more from nearly 30 years in sports medicine.

Hamstring injury? Getting back to sprinting takes more than rest.

When I look at a hamstring injury, I consider how the whole body supports your return to running.

Three things to consider:
☑️ Compression to help manage the injury.
☑️ Movement to maintain function during recovery.
☑️ Control through your back, hips, knees and ankles to support your running mechanics.

The goal is to get you back to running well, not simply running again.

Questions about your injury? Shoot me a DM or book in for a free 15-minute consult (check the link in bio).

Sometimes the problem isn’t the exercise.

It’s how you’re doing it.
For shoulder rehab, three things can make a big difference:
• Your form
• Your starting position
• What you’re doing while performing the exercise

Small changes can completely change how an exercise loads the body.

Rehab isn’t just about finding an exercise.
It’s about finding the right way to perform it for your body.

Would you have spotted all three?

Neurodynamic Assessment & Treatment Course
Assess Nerve Sensitivity • Guide Treatment • Track Progress

Develop your confidence in assessing nerve sensitivity and recognising signs of neural irritability. Learn how to use these findings to guide treatment, evaluate the response and decide when to progress rehabilitation.

Designed for physiotherapists and physiotherapy students, this practical, four-hour workshop provides a structured approach to neurodynamic assessment, treatment and ongoing reassessment.

What you will learn:

• Assess nerve sensitivity using upper and lower limb neurodynamic tests.
• Interpret symptoms, resistance and movement findings to guide clinical decisions.
• Use structural differentiation to explore whether nerves are contributing to symptoms.
• Practise neural mobilisation techniques and adapt treatment intensity to what the patient can tolerate.
• Reassess throughout care to monitor change, refine treatment and guide progression.

You will practise testing and treatment techniques with guidance and feedback throughout the session. The focus is on symptom response, precautions and using assessment findings to make your treatment more targeted.

What to bring:
Please wear or bring athletic clothing suitable for practical assessment and treatment.

Assess. Treat. Reassess. Progress.
Build practical neurodynamic skills you can apply with confidence.

Most people rush the three best exercises for their back.

The curl up, the side bridge and the bird dog look simple. That is exactly the problem. The benefit sits in the quality of each 10 second hold, not in how many you get through.

In 27 years of practice, I have seen backs give out late in the day, when control quietly fades. These three exercises train that control.

This week's newsletter shows you how to do each one properly, the common mistakes, and how to progress.

Pain doesn’t always mean stop.

But pushing through it blindly isn’t the answer either.

A simple way to think about it:
➡️ Pain + lost form = don’t push through
➡️Pain + maintained form = you may be able to continue
➡️No pain + lost form = tread carefully

Your body’s performance can tell you a lot about what’s going on.
If pain is already affecting how you move, perform or train, don’t wait for it to become a bigger problem.

Get it assessed and know what you’re actually dealing with before you push harder.

Need help deciding whether you should train or compete? Get it assessed.
