Please be aware of the trail Code of Conduct. In particular the right of way priority:
* Cyclists give way to pedestrians
* Horse riders give way to cyclists and pedestrians. This is consistent with the most closely related Vicroads rule regarding riding an animal on a footpath. Rule 302 - https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/road-rules/a-to-z-of-road-rules/animals
Cyclists: Please call out to horse riders well in advance when approaching from behind to let them know you're coming. Slow down to avoid frightening the horse. Ideally, wait for the rider to let you know it's safe to pass their horse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CctorLKM4U8
Horse riders: Please clean up after your horses. Much appreciated. Thank you! 😀
Walkers with dogs: Please clean up after your dogs. Thank you. 😀
Please help make this shared use trail an enjoyable experience for everyone. 😀
Hi everyone! Just a reminder that the Warburton Rail Trail is a shared use trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. It is not just a bike track. There are code-of-conduct signs at most of the well used access points. Please become acquainted with them and in particular, the give-way priorities for the different modes of transport. Especially, care must be taken when approaching and passing horses as they can be unpredictable. Slow down and make yourself known to the rider.
Please help make this shared use trail an enjoyable experience for everyone. 😀
Hi Folks! There is now a website you can visit with the latest info on the Yarra Valley Trail. What was originally the Yarra Glen Rail Trail will now become part of a larger Yarra Valley Trail which will loop around the Valley from Lilydale to Yarra Glen to Healesville and back down to the O'Shannassy Trail and Warburton Rail Trail and back to Lilydale. The best part? Construction will begin this month! There will also be mountain biking facilities around Warburton. Check it: www.rideyarraranges.com.au
