This week's episode of Daz Asks Why? tackles two topics that strike a nerve in communities right across Australia.

🏛️ Where are the pollies when the election signs come down?
Why do politicians seem to appear at local clubs only when votes are on the line? Community sport is facing real issues every single week — affordability, racism, volunteer burnout, abuse and participation challenges. So why aren't these conversations happening all year round?

🎙️ **DAZ ASKS WHY?

No agendas. No cheap shots. Just honest conversations, difficult questions and a genuine search for answers.

💬 We'd love to hear from you:
* Do politicians do enough to support grassroots sport outside election periods?
* What changes would you like to see?

Drop your thoughts in the comments or join the conversation live.

🏉 Why do some parents cross the line at junior sport?
What drives the shouting, the pressure, and the behaviour that can take the joy out of the game for our kids? Is it passion... expectation... or something more? More importantly, how does it affect the children we're trying to support?

200 Games of Heart: The Story of Kain Proctor...So Far!!!

Last week, Kain Proctor reached a milestone that very few local footballers achieve, running out for his 200th senior game.

While the occasion itself has now passed, it feels important to pause and recognise what that number truly represents.

Because Kain's story has never just been about football.

It has been about coming home.

Growing up around Sir Doug Nicholls Oval, Fitzroy Stars wasn't simply the club he played for. It was part of who he was. The son of Lionel "Jacko" Proctor, Kain spent his childhood immersed in the culture, pride and family spirit that makes the Stars so much more than a football club.

After beginning his senior journey with the Stars, Kain challenged himself elsewhere, experiencing the highs and heartbreaks that shape great footballers. But no matter where football took him, there was always a connection pulling him back to the place where it all began.

Home.

Returning to Fitzroy Stars Football & Netball Club wasn't about taking the easy path. It was about giving back. It was about helping restore one of community football's proudest and most significant clubs to the position it deserved.

And then came the chapter that will outlive almost every football story told in local circles.

The son returning home.

The father leading from the ground with him.

A community longing for its moment.

When Fitzroy Stars finally broke through for premiership success, it wasn't just another flag. It represented decades of resilience, sacrifice and unwavering belief. At the centre of it stood Kain Proctor.

The captain.

The leader.

The heartbeat.

He didn't simply help deliver a premiership. He helped create a memory that generations of Fitzroy Stars families will carry forever.

To achieve that success alongside his father is the kind of story that reminds us why local football matters.

Years from now, when people speak about the great tales of suburban football, they'll remember the father and son who shared one of the game's most special moments.

They'll remember Kain Proctor.

The boy who grew up at the Stars.

The man who came home.

The captain who inspired a community.

Across the past decade, regardless of division, few players have combined skill, courage, leadership and loyalty quite like Kain. He has earned the respect of teammates, opponents and supporters not because he sought recognition, but because of the way he carried himself.

He has been a match-winner.

He has been a leader.

But above all else, he has been someone young footballers can look up to.

Two hundred games is a remarkable achievement.

Two hundred games built on passion, commitment and a genuine love for your club is something even more special.

As someone who has watched local football for a long time, I genuinely believe Kain Proctor has been one of the most influential players across all divisions over the past 10 years. Not just because of what he achieved individually, but because of what he represented.

Loyalty.

Identity.

Family.

Community.

So while the applause from his 200th game may have faded, the significance of the achievement certainly hasn't.

Statistics eventually become records.

Premierships become history.

But the impact you have on people never disappears.

Congratulations, Kain, on 200 senior games.

Your legacy is about far more than football.

Some players are remembered for what they won.

The very best are remembered for what they meant.

And Kain Proctor has meant everything to the Fitzroy Stars.

Im Daz & that's my take...
