In event no. 699, there were 728 finishers and 41 marvelous volunteers. Well done to everyone. There were 163 first timers comprising 118 first-time visitors from other parkruns and 45 finishers completing their first-ever parkrun. 88 people recorded personal bests. Representatives of 55 different clubs took part.

Congratulations to Peter SANDERS on completing 250 parkruns. Hailing from Western Australia and on his 32nd visit to Albert Melbourne, Peter was one of only two octogenarians in this week's event. Peter celebrated in style by recording the highest age grading (83.53%) of any of this week's finishers. Well done Peter on your parkrun achievements.

A huge thank you to 2 marvelous first-time volunteers at Albert Melbourne, both volunteering for the first time at a parkrun. You made an essential contribution to the smooth running of this event and we invite you to volunteer again at future events.

Congratulations to Wei WANG who achieved the 100 parkrun milestone.

Congratulations to Charlotte LIM, Heather WATERFALL, Amy KINLEY, Harris THOMPSON, Meghna KHANNA, Georgia SMOLLEN and Thomas SHARP who achieved the 25 parkrun milestone.

Congratulations to all milestone achievers. We encourage you to celebrate by placing your name on the volunteer roster soon to support future milestone achievers.
Well done to all walkers, runners, spectators and volunteers. Everyone is welcome at parkrun.

Every Saturday, around 40 volunteers make our parkrun happen. This week, 728 people ran, jogged, walked and volunteered together to create another fantastic event.

Since Albert Melbourne parkrun began in 2011, 67,970 different people have participated, but only 3,224 individuals have volunteered at least once. Thatโ€™s just 4.7% of everyone who has taken part.

Imagine if we could lift that to 5%, 6% or beyond. Every new volunteer helps share the roles across our community and keeps Albert Melbourne parkrun welcoming, safe and sustainable.

Looking ahead to next week, our roster has more opportunities than weโ€™ve seen for quite some time โ€“ which means thereโ€™s a role waiting for you!

๐ŸŸข Event Course Check / Halfway Marshal โ€“ enjoy an extra lap while checking the course before becoming everyoneโ€™s cheer squad at halfway.

๐Ÿš— Car Park Marshal โ€“ help keep participants safe at the road crossing while cheering on every walker, jogger and runner as they pass.

๐Ÿ Funnel Manager #3 โ€“ help keep the finish funnel flowing smoothly.

๐Ÿ”ข Number Checkers x 2 โ€“ the all-important role that helps keep everyoneโ€™s results in perfect order.

๐Ÿ‘ Finish Funnel Marshals x 10 โ€“ we need at least 10 more to help participants through the finish funnels.

Every role comes with full support and training, and thereโ€™s something to suit everyone.

If youโ€™ve completed 10 parkruns, around 400 volunteer roles have helped make those events possible. Volunteering is simply another way to participate in Albert Melbourne parkrun, and weโ€™d love to welcome a few new names onto next weekโ€™s roster.

Finally, a huge thank you to this weekโ€™s 41 volunteers. Whether you were welcoming first timers, marshalling, scanning barcodes, managing the funnel, processing results or helping behind the scenes, you made this weekโ€™s event possible.

parkrun simply couldnโ€™t happen without you. Thank you.

Today's full results can be found on the Albert parkrun, Melbourne Results Page. https://www.parkrun.com.au/albertmelbourne/results/699/

โ„๏ธ Winter mornings are brighter with a smileโ€ฆ and a few hi-vis vests! ๐Ÿฆบ

The volunteer crew is ready to cheer everyone through the finish line tomorrow, but weโ€™d love a few more people to join them.

Despite our volunteer appeal earlier this week, weโ€™ve actually gone backwards on the roster and are still looking for a few Funnel Marshals.

Itโ€™s one of the easiest volunteer roles, youโ€™ll have the best view of the finish line, and youโ€™ll help make the event possible.

If you can help, please let us know in the comments or send us a message tonight

Whether youโ€™re chasing a PB, walking with friends, visiting from another parkrun or just joining us for coffee afterwards, weโ€™d love to see you.

Celebrating a milestone or visiting Albert Melbourne parkrun? Let us know in the comments so we can give you a shout-out! ๐ŸŽ‰

The Albert Melbourne parkrun Strava club is potentially a place to transfer entries for the sold out Melbourne Marathon. However, to prevent scams, we've put in place some measures. Read on....

The Melbourne Marathon will soon open a platform where you can transfer entries. The platform will be open from from 27 July to 9 August.

The Albert Melbourne parkrun Club is a huge Strava group with over 6000 members. So the potential for helping people transfer entries is high. However, there is also a high chance of scams. We have therefore decided that we will delete any posts advertising transfers unless the person is known to us.

So, if you have an entry to transfer, come and see us at parkrun (you could even choose to volunteer!), let us know your name and your intention to transfer an entry. We'll then let you post.

We will delete all posts from people asking for entry spots. We know people are keen but a) you should have registered in the initial offer and b) you're just asking to get scammed by posting personal details wanting an entry.

We will delete all posts about transfers on Facebook and Instagram. We cannot manage all channels.

We hope people understand that we're putting in place these measures to try to protect the community. We are in uncharted waters with the marathon being so popular. We'll see how it goes and we welcome feedback.
