KANISH BHOLU – THE CALM IN THE STORM

Every great team needs an anchor.
For the Victorian Eagles, that man was Kanish Bholu.

Batting at number 4 throughout the Brimbank Cup, Kanish was the backbone of the batting order—holding the ship steady when the tide got rough. In pressure-packed league games, he rose to the occasion not once, but twice, earning Man of the Match awards with ice-cool performances when the Eagles needed him most.

But he’s far from a one-dimensional player.
Kanish is a genuine all-rounder—a sharp, athletic fielder and a crafty bowler who always keeps the opposition on their toes. With the bat, he stacked up enough runs to finish 8th in the tournament standings, proving his class with every outing.

He’s consistent, clutch, and cool under fire.
He’s Kanish Bholu, and he’s exactly what the Eagles needed.

Welcome to the nest, champ. You’ve already made it home.

ABBASS RASHEED – THE SPARK THE EAGLES NEEDED

What. A. Find.

Abbass Rasheed has lit up the Brimbank Cup with the kind of firepower that legends are made of. In just six innings, our explosive opener smashed 237 runs at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 161 – redefining what it means to set the tone at the top.

But when it mattered most, Abbass delivered.
Semifinal. Pressure on. Stakes sky high.
He stepped up and bamboozled the opposition, hammering 82 match-winning runs and walking away with a well-deserved Man of the Match.

Finishing 5th overall in the batter standings, Abbass wasn’t just consistent – he was electric, an energizer we didn’t know we were missing until he took that guard.

From explosive starts to match-turning moments, Abbass Rasheed is more than a batter – he’s our dazzling star, and we can’t wait to see him shine even brighter.

Victorian Eagles. Watch this space. The rise has just begun.

Grand Final- Man of the Match (Hasnain Zaidi)

The stage was set. Brimbank Cup 2025 – The Grand Final. A match that would decide history. After weeks of relentless effort, sweat, and unwavering determination, it all came down to this final battle: Melbourne Thunders vs. The Victorian Eagles. The Eagles had fought for 11 long years to reach this moment, and nothing was going to stop them now.

Melbourne Thunders won the toss and chose to bat first, following the age-old belief that in big games, it’s always best to put runs on the board. But the Eagles had other plans. They had come too far to let anything slip away. From the very first over, their bowlers dictated terms, suffocating the Thunders' batters with precision and discipline. Under the immense pressure of the final, Melbourne Thunders crumbled. Their batting lineup, known for its firepower, failed miserably on the grandest stage.

The Eagles’ bowlers ripped through the opposition, and at the heart of this destruction was their magician with the ball, Arsalan Khan. The leg-spinner, who had been consistent throughout the tournament, delivered a spell for the ages. His masterful spin left the Thunder batters clueless as he picked up 3 wickets for just 12 runs in his 4 overs. Muaz and Hasnain struck in tandem, grabbing two wickets each, while Musaddiq Ali, Abuzar, and Arsalan Tahir contributed with a wicket apiece. The Thunders, who had walked in with hopes of dominating, were bowled out for a mere 96 runs in 18 overs. The Eagles had given themselves the perfect chance to clinch their first-ever title.

Chasing 96 runs seemed straightforward, but finals are never easy. The nerves got to the Eagles early as Basim fell on the very first ball of the innings. The tension in the dugout was palpable. However, opener Abbass Rashid stood firm, displaying class and resilience under pressure. He played some magnificent strokes, smashing 2 sixes and 3 fours on his way to 28 runs. But just when it seemed like he would anchor the chase, he too fell, and the Eagles found themselves struggling. Their middle order collapsed under pressure, failing to capitalize on the strong bowling effort.

With wickets tumbling, the game hung in the balance. It all came down to the lower middle order, and stepping up in the most crucial moment were two of the Eagles' most seasoned players—Vice Captain Hasnain Zaidi and Muaz Haider. The weight of the final didn’t break Hasnain. Instead, it fueled him. He knew this was his moment to become a hero. As wickets fell around him, he remained unfazed, staying at the crease for 50 intense minutes, showing resilience, patience, and composure. Every run he scored was worth its weight in gold.

Hasnain’s match-defining 27 runs off just 22 balls included two thunderous sixes that swung the momentum back in the Eagles' favor. At the other end, Muaz Haider stood strong, ensuring there were no further hiccups. He played a crucial supporting role, crafting a well-fought 11 not out, keeping the scoreboard ticking and providing the perfect partnership.

As fate would have it, the match boiled down to the final ball of the innings. The Eagles needed a boundary to win. The pressure was suffocating, the tension unbearable. Every pair of eyes in the stadium was locked on Hasnain Zaidi. And then, as if scripted for a fairytale ending, he launched the last ball into the night sky. A gigantic six. A shot that will be remembered forever. A shot that etched the Victorian Eagles’ name in history.

The Eagles had done it. Victory by 4 wickets. Champions of the Brimbank Cup 2025. A moment 11 years in the making.

Amidst the celebrations, Hasnain Zaidi was named Man of the Match for his match-winning performance with both bat and ball. But this victory was about more than just one player. It was about the entire Eagles family. It was about every past and present player, every supporter, every believer. A special thanks goes out to Miura Lounge, the sponsors who stood by the Eagles and never lost faith.

Players come and go, but legends are made on nights like these. And on this unforgettable night, the Victorian Eagles became legends. This was more than just a win—it was the birth of a new legacy. The Eagles have arrived. 🦅🏆🔥

A Dream 11 Years in the Making – The Rise of the Victorian Eagles 🦅🏆

Eleven years ago, it all started with a dream. A vision so bold, so audacious, that it seemed almost impossible. A dream to create a Cricket Club in Melbourne whose name would echo through the fields, a team that would one day stand tall as champions. The second half of the dream was even bigger—to win a tournament, to lift that elusive trophy, to etch their name into history. But after all, what is greatness without dreaming big?

And so, Victorian Eagles was born. Founded by our unwavering skipper, Abuzar Mehdi, the club took flight with nothing but passion and the relentless pursuit of glory. Players came and went. Seasons changed. Tournaments began. But for years, the Eagles fell short. Knockouts came, but the finals remained a distant dream. Time after time, the story remained the same—so close, yet so far.

Yet, through it all, one thing never changed—the persistence and unshakable belief of our leader, Abuzar. With every heartbreak, he rose stronger. With every setback, he gathered his troops and marched forward. The fire within him never dimmed. And finally, in Ramadhan 2025, destiny called.

For the first time in history, the Eagles soared to the final of the prestigious Brimbank Cup. The moment was surreal, but it came with its own weight. Nerves ran high. The team had never set foot on this grand stage before. One last step, one final battle stood between them and immortality. To have come this far was already historic—but for the Eagles, mere participation was never enough.

Then, the unthinkable happened. In the most dramatic fashion, in the final over of the match, the Victorian Eagles did what once seemed impossible—they became CHAMPIONS.

🏆 11 years of struggle.
🏆 11 years of heartbreak.
🏆 11 years of unwavering belief.

And finally, the dream was fulfilled.

This victory, this trophy, belongs to every single soul who believed in us. To our skipper, Abuzar Mehdi, whose resilience kept this club alive. To the warriors who gave their all on the field. To those who came and left but contributed in their own way. To our supporters, who never lost faith. And to our incredible sponsors, Miura Lounge, who stood by us through thick and thin. This trophy is yours.

They say players come and go, but what remains is legacy. And now, the Victorian Eagles have one. This is just the beginning. The hunger for greatness has only grown stronger. Here’s to many more moments of glory. Here’s to the Victorian Eagles. 🦅💙💛

Brimbank Cup 2025

Victorian Eagels CC vs Reservoir Rangers CC

Semi final game

The Victorian Eagles delivered a dominant performance against the Reservoir Rangers, securing their place in the grand final for the first time in the club’s 11-year history. Winning the toss, the Eagles elected to bat first in the 15-over-a-side contest, a decision that proved to be a masterstroke.

Openers Abbass Rashid and Basim Khan set the tone early, putting immense pressure on the opposition bowlers with an aggressive display of stroke play. Basim played a quickfire innings, scoring 37 off just 22 deliveries, including three towering sixes. However, the real fireworks came from Abbas Rashid, who completely dismantled the bowling attack with a breathtaking knock of 82 runs off just 44 balls. His innings, filled with seven massive sixes, saw him dominate the scoring, dealing mostly in boundaries. Thanks to his brilliance, the Eagles posted a formidable total of 161/5 in 15 overs, leaving the opposition with an uphill task.

Chasing such a daunting target was always going to be a challenge for the Reservoir Rangers, and their task became even more difficult when Musaddiq Ali struck in the very first over. The Eagles’ bowlers maintained relentless pressure throughout the innings, leaving no room for the opposition batters to settle.

The highlight of the bowling attack was the exceptional spell from leg-spinner Arslan Khan, who was virtually unplayable, conceding just nine runs in his three overs. The Rangers' batters struggled against his variations, looking completely clueless at times. Hasnain Zaidi also delivered a strong performance, picking up two crucial wickets, while Arsalan Tahir contributed with a wicket of his own, maintaining tight lines to ensure the run chase never gained momentum. The Eagles were flawless in the field, complementing their superb batting and bowling efforts with sharp fielding that further restricted the Rangers’ scoring opportunities.

With a complete team effort across all departments, the Eagles secured a convincing victory and made history by advancing to their first-ever grand final. Their dedication and perseverance over the past 11 years have finally paid off, marking a significant milestone for the club. Abbas Rashid was deservedly named Man of the Match for his outstanding batting display, which played a crucial role in setting up the win.

The Victorian Eagles now look ahead to the grand final with confidence, ready to seize their biggest opportunity yet. The club extends its gratitude to Miura Lounge for their continued support throughout the years, and we wish the Eagles the best of luck in their pursuit of the championship.
