Game, set, match. Aran is heading to the World Championships! ๐ŸŽพ

A huge shout out to our superstar member Aran, who has officially qualified for the Blind Tennis World Championships in Lithuania this August after finishing runner up in both the singles and doubles at the Victorian Blind and Low Vision Open.

Alongside competing in blind tennis, Aran also took part in our Women's Strength Skills Program to build strength and confidence in the gym. Now, as she prepares to represent Australia on the world stage, she's still putting those skills into practice.

"The Women's Strength program has been a solid backbone for my daily workouts, and I've now incorporated the skills we learned during the program into my training routine."

Aran's mindset has always been simple: "If you want to do it, you're going to do it."

It's a philosophy that's taken her from learning to swim at Melbourne City Baths over 50 years ago to representing Australia on the world stage.

Congratulations, Aran. We're so proud of everything you've achieved and can't wait to cheer you on in Lithuania this August.

Recently, Year 10 student Ethan joined us for work experience, and it's fair to say he threw himself into everything.

Whether he was helping out with PRIME classes, shadowing our trainers, giving Reformer and HIIT a crack, or taking on the PRIME crew in a push-up competition, he was always up for the challenge.

"I've always been into sport. I do athletics, basketball and footy, and going to the gym helps me get better at all of them. Me and my mates treat training like a bit of a competition, which keeps it fun."

When asked what keeps him motivated, Ethan's answer was simple:

"My friends push me to be better every day, it keeps me social, and it makes my mum proud."

His favourite part of the week?

"Helping with the PRIME classes. Everyone was so welcoming, and the push-up competition with the ladies was pretty fun!"

After school, Ethan hopes to study Exercise Science, work in the fitness industry and, if all goes well, keep chasing his dream of competing at the highest level in athletics.

Thanks for all your hard work this week, Ethan. We loved having you as part of the team and wish you all the best for what's next.

Meet Ian. ๐Ÿ’™

7 weeks ago, Ian walked into Melbourne City Baths for his very first gym experience. Today, he can't imagine life without it!

After two hip replacements, Ian joined our PRIME program to build strength, stay active and create a healthy routine. What he didn't expect was finding such a welcoming and friendly community along the way.

From PRIME classes and Aqua sessions to gym workouts with Joel, Ian says it's the people, the trainers and the friendships that keep him coming back. We can't promise Ian the workouts get easier, but the laughs certainly will help!

"I've only been training at MCB for six weeks, but I've already become fitter, stronger and gained muscle mass. The PRIME classes have given me a new routine, more energy and a real sense of purpose. Everything I need is here, and I'll genuinely miss the gym and classes when I'm away later this year."

Ian's proof it's never too late to give something new a go. Come to MCB and see what all the fuss is about.

PS: Thank you for sharing your journey, Ian. We're proud to have you as part of the MCB community. ๐Ÿ’™

Some milestones are extra special! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

Last Sunday, four year old Lasya completed her very first solo swimming lesson with us, independently and without her mum in the water.

Lasya, who has cerebral palsy, joined our Access & Inclusion beginner classes last year with instructor Ed to build confidence in the water. Since then, sheโ€™s gone from wanting to stay close to mum, to exploring, playing and swimming more confidently each week.

For her mum, the biggest change has been seeing Lasyaโ€™s confidence grow, not just in the pool, but in her personality too.

โ€œSwimming means play, exploration, and enjoying different activities in a fun and engaging way.โ€

And according to Lasya, the best part of the lessons? โ€œPlaying with sinkies, especially when the colour is pink!โ€

Weโ€™re so proud of you, Lasya. What a huge achievement.
