Victorian Lions 🦁 Roar to Victory 🏆 in M9 Premier League Grand Final!**

In a thrilling showdown against the Melbourne Tuskers, the Victorian Lions emerged triumphant, despite facing defeat in two previous encounters with their opponents.

From the very start, the Lions showed their dominance, winning the toss and electing to field. With relentless pressure, they stifled the Tuskers' momentum until the 17th over, when Sahil Sharma's crucial innings lifted the Tuskers to a respectable total of 143.

But the Lions were undeterred. They stormed out of the gates with a blazing start, courtesy of Josh Van ZYL's explosive 17-run first over. Though they stumbled with a couple of quick wickets, Skipper Mohsin Abbas and Abhishek Beniwal steadied the ship with a strategic 63-run partnership.

With 33 needed from 25 balls, the Lions faced another blow losing MOHSIN’ wicket , but Usman Afzal's crucial 16 runs in the 17th over and Beniwal's decisive boundaries in the 18th sealed the victory in style.

It wasn't just their batting prowess that shone; the Lions outclassed the Tuskers in every aspect of the game. Their bowling attack, led by Wahaj, Harsh, Aman, Taimoor, and the Finals' Player of the Match Umair Butt, delivered an exceptional performance, containing one of the tournament's best batting lineups.

In the field, the Lions were like predators, with Aman, Beniwal, Babar, and Ali showcasing their athleticism with some sensational catches.

M9PL - M9 PREMIER LEAGUE - Challenger Game - SEMI FINAL

🟢Victorian Lions defeated Khalifa Spartans Cricket Club by 86 runs in one sided clash and now through to Finals where Lions will face Melbourne Tuskers .

Ali Mughal named player of the match for his controlled innings of 66 .

Lions put 176 runs on board which looked 15 runs short but Wahaj and Babar gave amazing start in bowling to Lions by not conceeding too many runs and taking thier 2 crucial wickets in powerplay .

Khalifa Spartans were falling behind the required run rate after losing early two wickets and afterwards they never look comfortable chasing due to amazing bowling displayed in middle overs by Lions two key spinner Taimoor Zaheer and Aman Khan.

Lions 🦁 will now face Melbourne Tuskers in Finals on 14th April 2024.

WEEK 11 - SEMI FINAL ( CHALLENGER )

The upcoming semi-final ( Challenger) clash between Victorian Lions and Khalifa Spartans Cricket Club is generating immense excitement, especially after their previous encounter where the Lions emerged victorious. However, the Lions have faced setbacks, losing their last two games in the M9PL, while Khalifa Spartans are riding high on confidence, securing wins in their last two matches of the tournament.

Fans are eagerly anticipating this rematch, wondering if the Lions can repeat their previous success or if Khalifa Spartans will continue their winning streak and advance to the final. With both teams eager to secure a spot in the championship match, anticipation is running high for what promises to be an electrifying showdown on the cricket field.

Both teams boast several players who have made significant contributions to their respective victories throughout the tournament. Interestingly, six different players from both the Victorian Lions and Khalifa Spartans have earned the prestigious Man of the Match award so far.

Knock Out Round Week - 10 - MOTM

❎ KNOCK OUT ROUND

The game between Khalifa Spartans and Friends XI was a one-sided affair, with Khalifa Spartans dominating after their miraculous win against Auspak. They posted an imposing total of 250 runs, thanks to a strong opening stand and Usman Younas's crucial 48 runs at a striking rate of 240. This convincing victory sets them up for the next round against the loser of the Qualifier Lions.

✅ QUALIFIER ROUND

In the Qualifier round, Victorian Lions started strong with Joshua and Babar scored 84 runs in the first 6 overs. However, after losing the first wicket, Lions struggled to maintain momentum, experiencing a significant collapse and losing 8 wickets for just 36 runs. Despite finishing at 158 runs, it wasn't enough against Tuskers' strong batting lineup. The inform batters chased down the target comfortably in the 16th over, with Ankush once again shining and earning the Man of the Match award.

M9PL - M9 PREMIER LEAGUE - WEEK 9 and ELIMINATION ROUND

M9 PLAYER OF THE MATCH

1️⃣ - ASIM MEHMOOD - Auspak played thier last round must win game against Karikalan and set new records for M9PL not only for heights score by any team but also set an Individual Score set by inform Asim Mehmood , who has no mercy for Karikalan and smashed 16 sixes and made record for highest individual score of 179* , yes you read it right . Welldone Asim for setting that record !!!

2️⃣ - USMAN AFZAL - Victorian Lions played thier second last round against Khalifa Spartan and chased 176 runs with courtesy of Usman Afzal amazing batting , Usman is picking up form at right time for lions and contributing with bat for last few games and one of the inform batter for lions 🦁.

✂️ ELIMINATION ROUND

Auspak took on Khalifa Spartans in first Elmination of M9PL , winning the Toss and putting Khalifa Spartan into bat , which raised lot of eyebrows when Khalifa Spartan Openers Umair Khan who is in red hot form and Usman Younus gave dream start to team by scoring 50 runs on first 19 balls and helped team to reach 208 runs which looks bit high too high to chase for Auspak .

However , Khalid Farooq and inform Asim Mehmood were in different mood and wanted to finish the game in early when they gave a flying start and were on track for easy win untill they lost 2-3 quick wickets .

Khalifa looked down after first 10 overs but they kept thier nerve in last 4 overs when Auspak only needed 29 runs with 7 wickets in hand and Asim was on crease .

Needing 11 runs in last two overs and Auspak looked comfortable at that stage but two overs from Aftab Khan and Nabeel changed the changed and managed to saved 11 runs and game ended up in draw and went to super Over.

Asim Mehmood unbeaten 100 went in vain when Auspak only managed to make 3 runs in super over and Khalifa changed down 3 runs on first 2 balls.

We witnessed one of the best T20 batting and game in our first Elimination round.

Aftab Khan got declared man of the match for his crucial 17* runs and 2 amazing overs under pressure.
