Every strike has an ideal range. By controlling the distance, you give your techniques the space they need to land with speed, balance and power.

This focus also gives the opportunity to stay just outside your opponent’s preferred range. This forces them to step before they can attack, making their intentions easier to read and giving you more time to defend or counter.

Distance control works both forwards and backwards.
