Somers Yacht Club

The annual golf team tournament for the Otto Trophy was completed today. The heavens opened big time on our early morning groups. Not one person flinched and all 36 players completed the course.
Winners on the day was team 1, captained by Jill Duboudin with David Ryan, John Lever and Georgie Minton. A glorious dinner for our presentation was conjured up by our amazing social host Lisa Nutting .
Well done to all for enduring the conditions.
A big thank you to Roger and Heather Crabtree for amazing table decorations and all our volunteers that helped prepare the meals, clear up, wash the dishes and man the bar. Could not do it without you.

Final SsYC Junior Fleet coaching session of the season today! A great morning on the water with Coaches Henry and Hector, followed by BBQ lunch and coaches awards for our sailors! Look out for our brilliant Junior Fleet sailors out racing with the SsYC fleet this afternoon!

10 of our Somers Youth sailors have just completed 2 days of coaching at Zhik Youth Sail Victoria 2026! Well done to Henry, Leona, Hector, Mavis, Eli, Arthur, Grace, Abbie, Will and Gibby on looking out for each other, getting out on the water in tough conditions, and making the most of the great coaching clinics on offer. Unfortunately, weekend racing has been cancelled due to bad weather. But Team Somers and their dedicated parents put in a huge effort to get boats and sailors over to Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club and participate in this event for the first time - and it was a great opportunity to see our friends from other Victorian clubs, and to build our sailors’ skills on their Open Skiffs and Lasers! Amazing effort team! Thanks for having us SSCBC, looking forward to seeing you again next year!

We had a visit from the local primary to the Yacht Club as the grade 2’s are learning about significant places in the area. They learnt about the history of the club, and our importance within the community. They had a turn in a boat on land and got to play in our games room. We hope to see them and their families back in the future
