MV Sarasu
Our page page is designed to provide information and updates about our travels. In the meantime we will keep post info to keep you all in the loop. There are 4 couples who constitute the Sarasu crew. Our aim for 2015 is to travel up the East coast of Mainland australia, with perhaps a trip out to the Louisaide Islands. December should see us tucked up in Cairns for the Cyclone season over Xmas.

We left Nara inlet on Tuesday expecting to anchor at Gloucester passage.
Wind had got up and anchoring comfortably impossible.
Tried Cape Clevland further North same deal.
Moved on to Cape Upstart same thing, strong winds from the ESE.
Shallow water not able to Anchor.
Made the decision to push on to Horseshoe Bay Magnetic Island.
ETA 1.00 am Wed.
Due to exploring anchorages the route was inshore.
Not normally a problem?
But wait.
Winds and seas rose from the SSE, ESE.
It kept pushing us onto the lee shore of Cape Bowling Green.
Halfway to the Cape we had to tack SSE to gain searoom.
Big swells pitch black.
Slowed down to 6 knots back on course, but had to keep from getting pushed onto the lee shore.
Very rolly and took 2 hrs to round the Cape.
We rolled through 55 to 60 degrees but then found a big one which rolled us through 65 degrees. Not recommended!!!
Rear deck table took a tumble as did lots of other stuff but nothing major.
Repaired the table yesterday, all good!
Once round the Cape 9.5 kts smooth sailing to drop anchor 3.30 am Horsehoe Bay.
Day ashore yesterday.
Note to self:
Allow for the possibility that the seas will rise.
Make sure you have lots of searoom when there are big swells pushing you to a lee shore!!

Into the Breakwater Marina Townsville this morning.(Thursday)
