Observed annually on December 3rd, the day aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society and development. The theme emphasizes the indispensable need for the full inclusion, participation, and leadership of persons with disabilities to achieve social development objectives.

Key Focus Areas of the Theme 2025: Removing Barriers, Ensuring Equal Opportunities, Implementing Inclusive and equitable world, Promoting Awareness and Acceptance.

The inclusion of persons with disabilities as both agents and beneficiaries of social development is indispensable. Disability inclusion in all aspects of social, economic, cultural and political life is therefore an imperative.
