Entries for the 2026 Eaglemont Club Championships are closing soon!

A reminder that the 2026 Eaglemont Club Championships (Open, Social and Junior) are just around the corner, and will be running over two consecutive weekends - April 25 & 26 and May 2 and 3, 2026.

This event is open to financial club members only with a flat-fee entry fee of$20 per player.

Events include: Mens & Womens Open Singles/Doubles, Junior Singles/Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Family Mixed Doubles, and Socia singles and doubles events. Open Singles and Doubles are best of 3 sets, while all other events are 8-game sets (tiebreak at 7-7).

Entry Deadline: Wednesday, April 22, 2026
Withdrawal Deadline: Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Are you pennant ready?

After a particularly successful 2025 pennant season with nine teams (including Mens Grade 1 and 2 teams and the Womens Grade 2 team), Eaglemont Tennis Club is actively recruiting players for the 2026 Winter Pennant season, which starts in May.

Any interested players are invited to attend a Pennant pre-season grading and tryout session at Eaglemont on Saturday February 21st from 12-1 pm.

A big year of tennis ahead for Yarra Tennis (which starts this week)!

A comprehensive junior coaching program & pathway with group, UTR and pennant squads, our own in-house Friday Night Smash league, and Green Ball/Junior Community tournaments at Eaglemont Tennis Club.

Plus an Adult Coaching program with Open Court sessions, TennisFit Plus group coaching, private lessons and a new social doubles competition starting in February.

A summary of the Eaglemont GBS 125 & JC tournament at Eaglemont Tennis Club over the weekend, with 56 matches in total over the 2 days & 35 entries (164 matches over the 3 events at Eaglemont in January as part of the Yarra Tennis Smash Series).

Finalists were;

Girls 10 and under GBS event finalists:
Tosha Timanyuk defeated Audrey Chu 6-1

Boys 10 and under GBS even finalists:
Lucas Jin defeated Carter Apswoude 6-3

18 and under event:
Daniel Rogers defeated Oliver Heng 6-1

Our next GBS and JC tournament will be held at the end of the Easter school holidays (April 18 & 19) and will be open for entry shortly.

FRIDAY NIGHT SMASH - our in-house junior competition every Friday night at Eaglemont also starts this Friday from 5-6:30 pm with a grading session.

This league is ideally suited for players 9-14 and UTR level 2-5 with 3 players per team and a one set singles and doubles format.

This is also open to juniors from other clubs and registration is via the coaching website (yarratennis.com.au/friday-night-smash).

An honour to be the Tournament Director of the inaugural 2026 IC Australia Grand Slam Reunion tournament last week, held at the original location of the Australian Open - Kooyong Tennis Club.

This event saw an Australian IC team of players which included Luke Saville, Mark Woodforde, Louise Field, Jenny Byrne and Wayne Pascoe against an IC Rest of the World team with players including David Mustard, Naoko Sato, Pavlina Nola and Julie Richardson.

The tournament concluding Friday night with a Gala event that saw Scott Draper interviewing some of the biggest legends in Australian tennis, notably Ken Rosewall, Margaret Court, Frank Sedgman, Bill & Lesley Bowrey, and Rod Laver himself.

Thanks to the IC event organising committee of Loretta Sheales, Andrew Rae and Elizabeth Peers (and outgoing IC President Kerryn Pratt) for their work in putting this event together, along with Luke Dowse from Continuum Physiotherapy.
