BODY MANAGEMENT @ METS πŸ©ΊπŸ“Š

RESTING METABOLIC RATE (RMR)
Assessing your RMR provides a critical insight into how much energy is utilized to power basic human function. Combine this with training habits and lifestyle physical activity and you’ve now got a more complete picture to manage your energy balance. Whether that be more accurately pinpoint a calorie deficit range for weight loss, build a surplus to gain size or simply maintain a healthy energy balance, matching your training outputs with enough energy input to reduce the risk of energy deficiency leading to illness, burnout and injury.

INBODY BODY COMPOSITION SCAN
Provides a detailed breakdown making up the weight on the scales. Insights into fat mass, body fat %, skeletal muscle mass, segmental breakdown of fat and muscle mass, and more. A more contextual way of measuring body composition change than simply body weight, but also can provide some unique insight into estimated carbohydrate storage potential relevant for tailoring race fueling strategies.

BLOOD LACTATE ANALYSIS @ METS

Blood Lactate can be used as an indicator of Energy System interplay, fatigue and performance adaptation.

By assessing your lactate profile we can:
1) Enhance the accuracy of your training zones βœ…
2) Gain deeper insights into your physiological response to race specific intensities/paces βœ…
3) Identify key performance thresholds, why they occur and how best to improve them βœ…

crushing it in Europe after a stint working with Nick in the lab πŸ’ͺ

Posted β€’ XTERRA France Main Race πŸ”›

6th place again. That was Tough! The legs were definitely feeling the fatigue from Short Track the day prior. Played plenty of cat and mouse on the course. πŸ€™πŸΎ

Really happy with how I managed the engine. Following guidelines we set up in the lab πŸ”¬ Combined this with a great fuelling ⛽️ strategy allowed me to keep the power on throughout. πŸ’ͺ🏽

After Fridays rain the trails were perfect come Sunday afternoon; nice a grippy, plenty of traction. Had a blast on this course. The decent are long and fast. 🚴 πŸ’¨

Thanks for an incredible event πŸ™ŒπŸ½

Onto Poland πŸ‡΅πŸ‡± now for a little training block before XTERRA Lake Scanno

Shoutout to .ashman who finished 2nd female in her first ever marathon 2 weeks ago πŸ’ͺ Kita followed a standard polarised training program consisting of 1-2 sessions of very high intensity, mixed with 3-4 easy endurance runs, building the long run volume up in a manageable way. The first of many marathons we suspect!

This video explains what Normalised Gradient Pace is and why it’s a better measure of intensity than average pace for undulating runs.

A good way to ensure your high intensity interval training sessions are effective is to see cardiac drift in each subsequent interval. In other words, your max (and average) heart rate should be going up each interval. If it's not, you probably need to increase the working intensity, reduce the rest duration, or extend the working duration.

Ever feel sluggish off the bike during a race? It's likely due to a Pa:Hr percentage above 4-5%. Check out this programming tip to see out how it works.

Stricko destroyed the bike leg at Kona. Check out some of the stats that we look for when we analyse a data set.

Bit going on in the lab in past few months, amateurs through pros. Regardless of your performance level measuring what’s changed and understanding why is a critical part of the process to being a better athlete.
