2021 has been another crazyyyyyy year and from memory I said the same thing about 2020! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But it's still been a goodie despite many tough times...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I managed to get home to NZ twice in between the borders opening and closing both times (talk about luck?!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤯 I spent many weeks/months in lockdown and June-Oct was a blur ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👏 I grew my business even further to what I thought was possible, with even bigger plans for the new year with more exciting things to come ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧠 I continued to invest in myself and upskill to become to best coach I can be for my clients ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😈 I smashed a few strength goals (squat/bench/deadlift) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

💍 I celebrated 5 years of marriage to ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

MY MINDSET AROUND FOOD -- NOW VS THEN⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

..I used to feel incredibly guilty eating certain foods and wondered if there would be a day if I could eat them without the shame or like I had "ruined my diet" 😩⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
..I didn't understand how the girls I followed on IG had incredible physiques but could still eat weekly 😩⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
..I use to think I could only eat certain foods and others would cause fat gain or be bad for me 😩⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
...I used to think it wasn’t possible to achieve results if I didn’t eat “clean” 😩⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Instead of thinking that certain foods like burgers, pizza, chocolate were things that were bad and shouldn’t have -- I could make them a part of my lifestyle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I stopped seeing food as black and white, as good and bad and instead started seeing food as something I ate for enjoyment and nourishment.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is the 'FOOD FREEDOM' approach I teach my clients. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This mindset is how they:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✓ see treat foods as a part of their life⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✓ learn to enjoy food and diminish the shame/guilt they feel⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’ve always been a lover of health and fitness. Playing sport and being active are embedded in my roots. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Given my background, becoming an advocate and joining the health and fitness industry was was a gradual transition. Over the years I slowly made my way into the gym and fell in love with strength training and the process of self-improvement 💪🏻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Training not only assists with my physical health but also plays a massive role in maintaining my mental health. It’s helped me to develop my physique, build my confidence and instill habits and behaviors that have led me to great success outside of my health and fitness journey 🙏🏼⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

❌ 5-6 YEARS AGO I WAS THE SHY, SKINNY GIRL... ❌⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I had no muscle and no strength. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I ate clean. I restricted. I binged. I felt guilt.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I wasn’t happy with my physique or life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I compared myself to everyone.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was shy. And I had zero confidence.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I fell traped to fad diets and had no health and fitness education.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞? ✅✅✅⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The gym and weight training. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not only did it fix my relationship with food but having strength-related goals taught me I could eat more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I put on almost 10kg... YAY. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I grew my overall frame (which was hard bloody work). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I corrected my posture and I could stand up tall. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I went from being weak to strong. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was taught discipline and this transferred into other areas of my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My confidence grew. I found myself. Now I know who I am. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am now my own motivation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It’s not always going to be easy.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The only thing I wish I did differently was invest in a coach sooner instead of learning the hard way. 😩⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
