Another step towards our beautiful beach being more accessible!
On Saturday 21st of March, we welcomed Sheena Watt MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Services, and Hon Sonya Kilkenny MP, State Member for Carrum, Cr Sue Baker JP, Mayor of Frankston council, to Seaford Beach to help officially launch the Seaford Beach Accessibility Project alongside Life Saving Victoria and Seaford Life Saving Club.
The project includes a new equipment shed, beach access matting and a Mobi Beach Wheelchair, helping more people in our community enjoy Seaford Beach โฑ๏ธ
This project was made possible thanks to $53,000 in Victorian Government funding, alongside Councilโs contribution of accessibility equipment ๐
It builds on the huge success of our Australiaโs Most Accessible Beach pilot at Frankston Beach this summer.
Because everyone deserves the chance to enjoy the beach ๐๏ธ
Thank you to the Victorian Government, Life Saving Victoria and the amazing volunteers from Seaford Life Saving Club for helping make our coastline more inclusive ๐๐ผ

What a day we had on our beautiful piece of beach for Australia Day!
Our volunteers were on patrol from 12-6pmโ๏ธ
With the amazing efforts of Peter, David, Bronwyn, Woody, Amy, Jen, Sarah, Tania M, Terry, Jimmy (Seaford), Tara & Brock (Bonbeach) & Stewart (Mentone).
We were able to have the IRB in the water.
Thanks to the amazing efforts of this collaboration of clubs we were able to attend 6 rescues involving 15 individuals.
So If a trip to the beach is on the agenda, please remember to: Attend a patrolled beach!
๐โโ๏ธ Swim between the flags
๐ธ Supervise children at all times
๐๏ธ Slip, slop, slap, seek, slide.
๐ง Stay hydrated.
๐ฆ Inflatable pool toys aren't designed for the beach, especially when there's an offshore wind.
โ ๏ธ Keep an eye on children because they can get lost quickly on a crowded beach.
Take your rubbish with you.

***Congratulations ***
Congrats Samone one of our valuable volunteer members on your first official rescue after hours tonightโฆ
Just on 8pm a young male approx 15 jumped off the pier but not a strong swimmer needed help.
Luckily Samone was there with her daughter and was able to bring him in.
An ambulance was called and took the young male with them.
This is just another example of how SRC / Bronze training is so valuable.
Cheers to a job well done!
