“I used to think about giving birth as something I should be afraid of.”
Of everything she shared with us at her six-month milestone, this was the line that stayed with us.
Because six months ago, there were plenty of things inside the gym that felt intimidating too.
- She had never used a barbell.
- She couldn’t hang from the pull-up bar.
- A 20-inch box felt genuinely scary.
- She would check the workout before class and wonder:
“Can I actually do this?”
Then, little by little, she started collecting evidence that she could.
She showed up for the barbell, she kept jumping on boxes that allowed her to build up to the height, she kept showing up.
She learned to trust her coaches, the people around her and, eventually, herself.
Now she walks into class thinking:
“I can do this today.”
And somewhere along the way, that mindset started following her outside the gym too.
When she first walked into CrossFit C*D, she never imagined she would one day be training through pregnancy.
Now CrossFit has become an important part of that journey, and she’s approaching what comes next in a way she never expected:
“One long WOD that I just need to complete, one step at a time.”
That’s the kind of progress we care about.
Not simply getting better at snatches, cleans, squats or box jumps but building confidence through doing hard things, over and over again, until you start seeing yourself differently.
And now she already knows what she wants on the other side of this chapter:
To come back.
Get stronger.
Keep improving.
And become, in her words, “a cool mum who is also a CrossFitter.” 🥹
CrossFit mums are genuinely the coolest mums.
Six months down and this next chapter might just be the most special one yet. 24 weeks already, not long until we meet our youngest C*D member!!
So proud of you Alicia xo
*side note - Alicia was one month into her CrossFit journey before becoming pregnant*
