McLachlan’s vision for women has fallen short 05/05/2018

If you're not aware of Title IX in the US read up on it. Basically the government brought in rules that meant schools and universities had to put equal funding into male and female sports. So what do you think the outcome of that was for female coaches? Well, an increase in money being directed towards womens teams meant the men wanted in, so female coach numbers dropped dramatically and continue to do so. Here in Aus we are already at a really low base for female coaches, and unfortunately the professionalisation of more female sports could just result in more 'paid' roles for the men. Let's hope not!
