Coaches play a vital role in a player’s tennis development. This week at Hume Tennis is the TCA JT125 tournament and so we asked players what their coaches mean to them, and the answer was clear: a friend, a constant support, and someone who pushes them to be their best 🎾

Tim Connelly Inducted into the TCA Hall of Fame
A huge congratulations to Tim Connelly, who has been officially inducted into the Tennis Coaches Association (TCA) Hall of Fame, joining an esteemed group of just 30 coaches honoured over the Association’s 69-year history.
With 22 years of service on the TCA Board — including a pivotal term as President — Tim has made an extraordinary contribution to the coaching community and the growth of tennis across Victoria.
As Director of Complete Tennis Services, Tim oversees programs at both Hume Tennis & Community Centre and Sunbury Lawn Tennis Club, driving innovation, inclusion, and excellence.
During his presidency, Tim led with determination and collaboration through the challenges of COVID-19, working closely with Tennis Victoria and Tennis Australia to lobby government for tennis to be recognised as a safe sport. His leadership helped ensure tennis was one of the first sports to return to play.
Beyond administration and advocacy, Tim’s passion for coaching has always been at the heart of his impact. His creativity and vision led to the invention of the Grip Coach, a simple training aid that introduces beginner players to correct tennis grips — a tool now used by coaches and players around the country.
Tim’s dedication to the sport, his relentless energy, and his ability to inspire others have left an enduring legacy on and off the court.
Congratulations, Tim — a well-deserved recognition for a lifetime of contribution to tennis!

🎾 Congratulations Ben Jones – 2025 Tennis Coaches Australia Coach of the Year! 🎾
We are thrilled to celebrate Ben Jones, a Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach and the proud winner of the 2025 Tennis Coaches Australia Coach of the Year – George Gilmore Award.
Based at Northbridge Tennis Club and Northbridge Primary School, Ben is widely respected for his passion and commitment to grassroots tennis. Known especially for his work with Blue Stage players, Ben coaches over 100 four-year-olds each week, helping to ignite a love for the game in its earliest stages.
Through his coaching business, What’s That Racquet, Ben runs a vibrant program of weekly coaching classes, junior and adult matchplay, and social tennis sessions. His community-first approach shines through in everything he does—from running charity days to building strong links between clubs, schools, and local families.
Ben’s innovative and dynamic coaching style has seen him recognised beyond the court. He’s been a conference speaker for Tennis NSW, and Tennis Australia has proudly used him as a case study for grassroots excellence.
We love the way Ben promotes tennis with fun, energy, and purpose—and we’re so excited to see his incredible work recognised nationally.
Congratulations, Ben – a truly well-deserved honour! 👏🎉
