πͺ΅ NEW SEASON FOR JUNIORS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER. πππ€π€
The cricket season for our juniors is just around the corner, and we'd love to welcome some new faces to East Burwood Cricket Club for Season 2026/27.
Whether your child is picking up a bat for the very first time or returning for another summer, the Woods is a place where they can develop their skills, make lifelong mates and fall in love with the game in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment.
Our junior program caters for players of all ages and abilities, with dedicated coaches, fantastic facilities and a club that prides itself on creating memories both on and off the field. Cricket is only part of what we do! The friendships, confidence and sense of belonging are what keep families coming back year after year.
We're also on the lookout for parents and family members who'd like to get involved as coaches, team managers or junior committee members. Whether you have years of cricket experience or none at all, there's a role for everyone and we'd love to have you as part of the Woods community. To express interest for one of these roles please reach out to Mick on 0430 482 181 or shoot us an email: [email protected]

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and this one does plenty of heavy lifting. β€οΈπΈ
East Burwood Cricket Club wants YOU! ππ€π€πͺ΅
Somewhere between βWhat do you bowl?β and this photo, strangers become mates. ππ€
And before long, the questions go from being 'what they bowl', to who's driving, whoβs got sunscreen and why one of them is on your back. ππ
Good people. Open people. Your people. β€οΈπ€
And just to sweeten the deal, thereβs also a bit of cricket involved. π€ππ€π

π¨ THE GLOVES ARE ONCE AGAIN IN SAFE HANDS. π§€π
We're thrilled to have Malith Premathilake back in the black and gold for Season 2026/27. ππ€π²
After joining the Woods last season, Malith wasted no time fitting in. He's become a familiar face around the club, regularly pops into our functions and brings plenty of personality wherever he goes. On the field, his athleticism behind the stumps is something to behold, while his middle order flair with the bat and passionate approach make him seriously entertaining to watch. Heβs also generous with his time at training, regularly sharing short but valuable advice to help our younger players improve.
Despite missing a number of games throughout the season, Malith still put together a seriously impressive first year at the Woods. Whether it's diving around behind the stumps, throwing himself into every contest or changing the momentum with the bat, Malith has a knack for making things happen.
With a full season ahead of him, we're excited to see what he can produce in 2026/27.
Welcome back, Malith! π²π€π

π¨ THE COMMITTEE WERE TOLD TO STICK TO THE SHOPPING LIST...
Turns out the shelves were pretty well stocked in the Ray McIntosh aisle. ππ
The Woods are thrilled to welcome Dilan Liyanage for Season 2026/27. ππ€π²
Dilan arrives from Vermont South after playing in the Ray McIntosh Shield, the top grade of the BHRDCA, where he was part of a side that reached the semi-finals.
Runs, wickets, top-grade experience and a proven ability to take games apart.
He is a seriously exciting addition to the Woods.
We cannot wait to see Dilan in black and yellow this season.
Welcome to the Woods, Dilan. π²π€π
And yes... the committee may have ignored the shopping list more than once. π

Need a little cricket fix before pre-season?
We've got you covered.
Over the next few weeks, we will be dusting off a few of our favourite moments out of the archives from seasons gone by. π
Pre season kicks off on Wednesday nights at Century Cricket Centre, Blackburn on 5 August.
This year we've managed to upgrade from the two nets we had last year to THREE full nets plus a bowling machine, which according to our calculations means 50% less standing around and an alarming increase in opportunities to nick one behind. We'll also be back at East Burwood Reserve from 16 August for fitness, team building and fielding specific sessions before shifting back to East Burwood full time at the end of September.
Further details can be found below π
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BiBNVWczA/

ποΈ Wednesday Nights: 5 Aug, 12 Aug, 19 Aug, 26 Aug, 2 Sept, 9 Sept, 16 Sept & 23 Sept

π East Burwood Reserve
ποΈ Sundays: 16 Aug, 30 Aug & 13 Sept
β° 10:00am β>12:00pm
πΈ Also, EVERY SINGLE PRE SEASON SESSION IS FREE. That's right. Free. Zero. Nada. Keep that wallet in your pocket.
And if that hasn't got your attention yet...
This October we'll unveil our brand new state of the art five lane training facility featuring retractable netting and lighting, giving our players access to some of the best training facilities in community cricket. Add in our upcoming $10 million pavilion redevelopment and we're starting to run out of reasons not to be excited.
Now, for those who aren't already calling EBCC home...
Look, we're obviously biased... but we'd be pretty curious if we were on the outside looking in too.
If your curiosity gets the better of you, fill out the expression of interest form below and we'll get in contact with you, or send Naveen a text on 0480 102 536.
