What a night it was at the Woods.

Our Past Players Day and 30 Year Anniversary Book Launch turned into an absolute ripper evening with the clubrooms packed from start to finish. Close to 150 people rolled through the doors across the night, catching up with old teammates, sharing stories and celebrating the incredible history of East Burwood & Bennettswood Cricket Club.

A huge highlight of the night was the launch of Appsy’s 30 Year (Post-Merger) Anniversary Book, which absolutely flew off the shelves. The demand was so strong that we had to start taking pre-orders on the night just to keep up.

The formal side of the evening was brilliantly run by Bruce Eva and Appsy, who hosted the presentations and led some fantastic interviews with club legends Mark Jones, Rob Bartlett and David Simcock, giving everyone a chance to reflect on some of the great moments and characters from across the decades and premierships. Meanwhile Roaming Spider was working the room, grabbing a few past players for some classic sideline interviews that added plenty of laughs throughout the night.

Of course, no EBCC gathering would be complete without a few lively debates, and there were plenty throughout the evening as people dissected Appsy’s list of the 30 best players since the merger and his Best XI from the past three decades. Safe to say there were some strong opinions, plenty of laughs and more than a few stories shared over a couple of well-earned beverages.

The Reverse Raffle kept the suspense building throughout the night, adding another layer of excitement to an already buzzing room. Another thanks to Adam, Jason, Tone, Rita, Mick and Pickers for making it all happen!

A massive thank you to everyone who helped bring the night together, particularly Appsy and the social committee including Rita, Mick, Jason, Simon Pickburn & co, as well as our bar staff who barely caught a break all night with the taps running non-stop.

It was a fantastic night celebrating the people, memories and moments that have shaped our club over the last 30 years.

The Woods history is strong, and nights like this remind us why.

P.S - Looking forward to the next book already, Appsy. If the whispers are true, that one might top this one!

What a great way to finish the junior season with our Junior Presentation Day at the Woods.

This year our junior program featured 14 players across our U12 side (fast 9's) and 13 Woolworths Blast participants and a couple of players participating in a joint Blackburn South CC/East Burwood CC u14s side. While the numbers might look small on paper, the progress we’ve made over the past two seasons has been huge. The energy, enthusiasm and improvement from our young players has been fantastic to see.

A massive thank you to everyone who made the program possible. Mick, our Junior Coordinator, has put in enormous work from the pre-season, connecting with schools, recruiting players and running game day operations all season long. Rob was also a huge help throughout the year with training sessions and scoring at every U12 game.

To our coaches, Dulina and Dulaj with the Blast program, and Naveen with the U12s, thank you for your time, patience and commitment. A big shoutout as well to Charles, Jacob, Rita and everyone else who stepped in to lend a hand during the season.

While this year featured just our U12s and Blast program, we’re excited about what’s ahead as we continue building the junior pathway at East Burwood. With the people we have involved and the momentum we’ve created, we’re confident the program will continue to grow, with hopes of introducing a couple more side next season.

Also, huge thanks to the junior sponsor's that helped out fiscally to make this program different to all others in the area. The contribution made by Valley Electrical Group , Thermal Fire Protection , Flooring Services, Choices Flooring Moorabbin, MDH Air-Conditioning Pty Ltd, Community Bank Blackburn South allowed for the junior players to enjoy new equipment, food at junior functions/training, christmas presents as well as awards on presentation day.

We’re already looking ahead to the off-season, where we’ll be running indoor sessions, so keep an eye out for updates.

Thank you to all our players and families for being part of the journey this season. Enjoy the break, stay safe, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at the Woods soon.
