Maree Shefford is the creator of THE ACTORS SPACE MELBOURNE , dancer and actor. Maree has trained with leading Australian and Los Angeles based coaches including: Kim Farrant (Director of Strangerland, starring Nicole Kidman) and Mal Kennard (AFI nominee). CURRENT WORK

Maree has an advanced knowledge of energy and body work, having trained with international Tantric experts. Embodiment Workshops are specifically designed to help an actor to reconnect to their body, experience their masculine and feminine, awaken sexuality and bring the shadow to the light. Maree has now combined her in-depth knowledge of the physical body in acting, coupled with her awakening practices and can assist actors to experience an authentic embodiment of mind, body and soul. THE PRIMAL ACTOR

The Primal Actor is a series of workshops designed to awaken actors sexuality and creativity, enabling them to find their own personal power, as well as integrating their emotional, physical and spiritual as one. Participants are taught how to connect to their truth and their authentic self, by understanding their own sexual energy and how this energy flows throughout the body. You will learn how to align, direct and focus their energy, as well as understanding their intuitive impulses. Actors will learn how to unlock their sexual/creative energy. By understanding your own sexual energy and how this energy flows throughout your body, you will be able to pinpoint body tension and any emotional blocks you may have, that may prevent you from fully expressing yourself creatively and sexually. By increasing your body awareness and understanding your sexual energy, you will encourage your own freedom of expression through your physical instrument, which for an actor, includes your voice, emotions and physical body. Using a range of techniques, which incorporate dance movement, breath work, energy flow and alignment, visualisation, relaxation and body postures, actors will learn how to connect to their inner world. In particular, partaking in The Primal Actor workshop series, will result in an increased range and depth for performers, an understanding of their own archetypes, sexual energy, as well as creating body awareness and freedom of expression through their physical instrument. Throughout the work, students will gain awareness of their possible body tension and emotional blocks, which when cleared, enables the actor to be more fully engaged, so they can deliver dynamic, alive, stimulating and organic performances, which in turn, significantly increases actors chances of acquiring roles in the industry.
