An important concern is respectfully raised regarding the scheduling of junior rugby union games on Saturday 25 April being ANZAC Day.
This day holds deep significance as each year, Power House Rugby Union Melbourne hosts a commemorative breakfast to honour, amongst others, the 73 Lord Somers & Power House members who lost their lives in World War II. It is a long-standing tradition of remembrance, reflection, and respect.
The current Rugby fixture scheduling creates a conflict for our junior players, coaches, families, and volunteers, forcing them to choose between participating in rugby or attending this important ANZAC Day service.
ANZAC Day is a time for all Australians to pause, reflect, and pay tribute to those who served and sacrificed. Community sport plays a vital role in bringing people together, and we feel it should support, not compete with this national moment of remembrance.
Rugby Victoria please reconsider the scheduling to allow players, families, and clubs the opportunity to fully participate in ANZAC Day commemorations.
