.lean.yoga and I went to Thailand last week, and one of the most inspiring experiences of the entire trip was seeing the Big Buddha in Phuket. Good timing, it had been closed for a while but happily reopened recently!
Standing there at the base looking up, what struck us the most wasn't just its monumental size, but the feeling of profound stillness. As the clouds shifted dramatically across the sky behind it, the Buddha remained perfectly grounded, a calm centre while the world moved around it.
It was a powerful, physical reminder of Sthira Sukham Asanam (Pantanjali's Sutra 2.46): the idea that our postures should be both steady and filled with ease. This practice we share at Estuary isn't about ignoring the "moving clouds" of life (the busyness, the demands, the unexpected shifts). It's about building an internal center that remains quiet and focused, even when everything else is in motion. We are practicing being that steady presence.
Coming back to the studio, we are feeling re-inspired by this balance of strength and softness. A wonderful trip for sure, but it's great to be back!
If you are looking to cultivate your own steady center in the midst of a busy week, we invite you onto the mat. For new practitioners, our Welcome Pass is the perfect way to explore all of our offerings and find the practice that helps you feel grounded and full of ease. Link in bio to start your journey!

She’s back! After a year of travelling, exploring, learning and soaking up new ideas from around the world, is back on the regular timetable at Estuary Yoga, and we couldn’t be more excited!
Lucy has always had a gift for crafting thoughtful, intelligent, beautifully-sequenced classes… and now she returns with fresh inspiration, new textures, and a deeper well of experience to share with our community.
Tomorrow night she’s kicking things off with her Sound, Yin and Massage workshop, a chance to dive into some of what she’s gathered over the past year.
And from Wednesday, she’s launching a brand new class: Harmony: Fascia Flow at 9.30am. Expect fluid movement, intelligent loading, spacious transitions, and that signature Lucy blend of poetry and creativity. A practice designed to nourish connective tissue, build resilient strength, and leave you feeling integrated and alive.

UNDERSTANDING ASANA: ARM BALANCES
Sunday Feb 22 | 2.00pm | 2hr
with Andrew & Bec .lean.yoga
Arm balances can feel elusive — not because they’re out of reach, but because they ask for clarity, patience, and trust in the process.
In this two-hour workshop, Andrew and Bec will guide you through the foundations of bent-arm balancing, beginning with a deep exploration of Chaturanga and translating that understanding into poses such as Crow, Side Crow, and Eight Angle. From there, we’ll build towards more complex shapes including Flying Pigeon and Koundinyasana, unpacking the mechanics of lift-off, alignment, and balance along the way.
Expect a supportive, step-by-step approach with drills to strengthen the core, stabilise the shoulders, and help you shift weight with greater ease. This is an opportunity to refine your understanding, build confidence, and explore what’s possible when technique and curiosity meet.

One of the qualities I keep returning to in practice is curiosity. Not pushing to achieve something, but showing up with a willingness to notice how the body feels today, what the breath is doing, what’s changed since last time.
Curiosity softens the edges. It gives us permission to explore without judgement, and to stay engaged even when things feel unfamiliar or imperfect.
If you’re curious about beginning — or beginning again — you’re very welcome. Our 2-week unlimited welcome pass is $40. Link in the bio, explore all our offerings.
