Sometimes a bit of course knowledge goes a long way!
Our Course Superintendent Nathan Turner came up victorious in the 13th Annual Red Tee Challenge Day, shooting a fantastic 40 Stableford points to win on a countback from Bern Nicholls. Starting on the 11th hole in the Shotgun Start, Nathan was firing early off the red tees, quickly getting himself to 5 up on his handicap. He slowed a little on the front 9, registering 17 points in a solid display but married with the 23 on the back 9, it proved enough. Bern Nicholls was a little more consistent on her way to 40 points, 21 on the front and 19 on the back cruelly finishing second by the Countback system.
A fantastic day as always, as we had 60 players in the field on a cool & foggy morning, raising money for our Women's Golf Development Fund. This Fund continues to go toward the next generation of Latrobe Junior Girls, and further assists in attracting and retaining new women members to the game and to Latrobe.
We thank the Women's Committee for their tireless efforts in organising the day. We would also like to thank the Groundstaff team for their great efforts in setting up the course, obviously to Nathan's advantage as he won the day.
Thank you to our members for supporting this great day and we hope to see even more next year!
Winners:
1st - Nathan Turner - 40 pts C/B
2nd - Bern Nicholls - 40 pts
Red Ball Team Competition:
Maureen Hocking, Judy Hewett, Jill Yeats & Amanda Thomas - 35 pts

As we tie a bow on the Victorian Pennant Season for the Club, with our annual Players v Caddies & Presentation Night coming up in a couple of weeks, we wanted to congratulate our Men's Team for a fantastic season in being promoted to Division 2.
After a nail-biting final round of the season at Latrobe, we would finish 2nd by the narrowest of margins and set up a final against top team Box Hill at Kew. A close 4-3 loss would follow in a contest that was tight all day, however fell the way of Box Hill after some fantastic golf across the board.
Thank you to all of our members who supported on the day and everyone who made Pennant a success in all of our teams; Sunday Women's, Friday Women's, Youth, Men's, Yarra Courses Senior & Junior Pennant. Thank you to members Janine Gale & Terry Wilcox for the photos throughout the season.
Bring on 2027!

🚨HOLE IN ONE🚨
Congratulations to Brian Andora, who had a Hole in One on our 9th hole on Sunday 15 March. Brian finished his round in the best possible way, starting on the 10th and finishing with a hole in one on his final hole.
Brian put together a nice second nine after a tumultuous first nine, making his first ace at Latrobe to finish the day. The 9th is proving easier than our other par 3's, as it is the only hole this year that has yielded a hole in one, 4 times so far in 2026.
Congratulations Brian!

🚨HOLE IN ONE🚨
Another hole in one, this week by regular ace specialist Ian Toall on the 9th hole. This is Ian’s 5th official Hole-In-One here at Latrobe, but certainly believes the number is higher than that if you count non-competition rounds as well.
His ace catapulted him to a magnificent score today of +6, winning the A Grade competition.
Congratulations Toally!

🚨HOLE IN ONE🚨
Huge congratulations to Matthew Keenan, knocking it in the hole on the 9th Hole along with a fantastic score of 41 points on Saturday 21 February. Igniting his round, Matthew was square to his handicap before making his hole in one that spurred him on to a magnificent score in the afternoon. I’m sure the members enjoyed themselves on Saturday afternoon when that went in!
Congratulations Matthew!

Today saw the 2026 Latrobe Women’s Bowl played on a sunny and warm Monday morning. With thirteen clubs featured and a field of 52, the format was a 4BBB Stableford competition, and an aggregate of the two pairs of 4BBB scores determining the winner of the bowl.
Latrobe were the champions, Apantree Justice & Margaret Wilson combining for 48 points, whilst Sue Berean & Sally Green combined for 45 points, giving the Latrobe team a 93 total. They were victorious by a single point, with Heidelberg’s scores of 47 & 45 not just falling short. The team secures Latrobe’s first win of their Bowl since 2002, whilst the Club is also the current holders of the Riversdale Bowl won last year.
The best pair of the day went to the Ivanhoe Ladies, with Zandra Deakin & Vicki Brennan having 48 points to win on a countback from Apantree & Margaret.
Thank you to all visiting teams, and we look forward to welcoming you back next year. Congratulations to our winning team!

What a way to start the year! Friday, 2 January will forever be a memorable day for Amy Baldwin at Latrobe Golf Club. During the Friday competition, Amy achieved what every golfer dreams of – her first ever Hole-In-One!
It happened on the 9th Hole, a challenging par 3 that demands precision and confidence. Standing 122 metres out, Amy selected her trusty 6 iron, took aim and delivered a perfect strike. The ball soared through the air, landed softly on the green and rolled straight into the cup – pure magic!
The cheers from fellow playing partners echoed across the course as Amy celebrated this incredible milestone. A hole-in-one is a rare feat and to accomplish it in competition makes it even more special.
Congratulations, Amy! This is a moment to cherish and a story that will be told for years to come.

Hudson knocked a sweet 9 iron in the hole, hitting a shot that deserved to go in.
Well done Hudson!
