In 2018, the Vic League Hockey Show took a bold step forward that would forever change the way we view and understand the competition — the launch of the VLHS Stats Centre.

Developed by Andrew Grimmett, the Stats Centre was more than just a new feature. It was a game-changing innovation that allowed clubs, players, and fans to dive deeper into the numbers behind the sport we love. For the first time, Victorian league hockey had a centralised, easy-to-access hub where results, player performances, and historical data could be tracked in one place.

Nick Hoogz and the VLHS team have never stopped acknowledging how pivotal Andrew’s vision and technical skill were in making this happen. “We’re incredibly thankful to Andrew,” Nick says. “The Stats Centre wasn’t just a tool — it became part of the DNA of the Vic League Hockey Show and the way we tell the story of each season.”

For clubs, it quickly became an indispensable resource. Coaches used it to analyse strengths and weaknesses, club officials monitored trends across seasons, and players could see their impact in black and white. For VLHS, it became the heartbeat of our match analysis — helping us determine winners, losers, turning points, and season-defining moments.

The introduction of the Stats Centre stands as one of the most definitive moments in the brand’s history. It bridged the gap between the passion of the game and the precision of data, giving Victorian hockey a modern edge while still celebrating its community spirit.

As the Vic League Hockey Show continues to evolve, the Stats Centre remains a shining example of how innovation and dedication can elevate the game for everyone.

Vic League Hockey Show Announces “The New Era”

MELBOURNE, VIC — The Vic League Hockey Show (VLHS) has announced a major step forward in its evolution, unveiling a brand-new part of what the VLHS is called “The New Era.”

After years as the voice of the league, Nick Hoogz is stepping away from the microphone, saying the decision is “the right thing for the brand’s forward movement.”

> “We’ve built something special, and now it’s time for the next generation to take it even further,” Hoogz said. “I’m proud of what we’ve achieved, and I’m genuinely excited for what’s coming next.”

The VLHS will bring a renewed focus to player stories, deeper game analysis, and an engaging new production style designed to connect with both die-hard hockey fans and new viewers.

VLHS has become the home of field hockey in Victoria, and The New Era aims to build on that foundation with fresh energy, modern presentation, and a commitment to celebrating the sport.
