A chance to meet up with to pass on the teams appreciation for the generous donation made by the men’s team towards our cricket development. These funds will play a key role in our goal of reaching T20 World Cup qualifications. It was also a great day to visit the iconic and statue.

A snapshot from August 22, 2021—a moment of hope aboard a U.S. C-17, amidst chaos at Kabul’s airport. Four years later, we honour the courage of those who fled, and those left behind.

We’re so proud. it’s an honor.
made Afghanistan’s National Women’s Cricket Team — despite huge barriers for women. When Afghanistan fell to the Taliban, she had to leave her home but she never gave up on cricket.
“Sport gave me a voice when I wasn’t allowed to speak, and a path when every door was closed.”

From being the youngest player on the Afghanistan’s women’s cricket team 🏏 to driving her own car on Aussie roads 🚗💨 — Shabnam is low key legendary.
The thing is... we don't think she knows it. 🥰

“Cricket is not for girls,” her uncle told her.
🚫🏏
But Safia played anyway. 💪🏽✨
Her brothers had her back. One walked her to training. Another practiced fielding with her. 👊🏽
At just 16, she fled Afghanistan.
Now 20, she’s in Canberra — training hard, pushing limits, building her strength, and living her dreams out loud. 🇦🇫➡️🇦🇺
When asked what she’d say to the girls back home, she didn’t hesitate:
💬 “Keep going. Try harder. Fight for your dreams. Never lose your patience. Don’t give up.” 🔥
This is her story — and it’s only just beginning.

This week, we honour the woman who brought Afghanistan Women’s Cricket together: Diana Barakzai 🙌🏏
Long before the national team existed, Diana and her father returned to Afghanistan on a mission: to bring women’s cricket to life. 🇦🇫💪
In a country gripped by corruption and patriarchy, her work was dangerous. Officials told her to take her salary, tell the board women weren’t interested, and stay quiet.
But 3,700+ girls and women signed up. Diana couldn’t let them down. 🔥
When she was stood down from her job, she set up a not-for-profit—the Afghanistan Social and Charity Foundation—and got the funding flowing. 🌱
Here she is with her dad, Mohammad Naeem Barakzai, standing strong with their win.
Diana Barakzai is the pioneer of women’s cricket in Afghanistan. 🧡🏏

At the Women’s T20 World Cup launch, Malala urged global cricket to stand with Afghan women — pushing for urgent action to support the exiled team in Australia and challenge the Taliban’s ban on sport and education. This is the power of sport, and Malala’s making sure no one can look away. 🌍✊🏽

From backyard cricket in Herat to national media in Australia 💫
Our story made it into both Take 5 magazine and The Sydney Morning Herald, shining a light on our journey back to the global stage.
Escaping the Taliban was never the end of the story — just the beginning of a new innings 🏏🇦🇫🇦🇺
Thank you to everyone who continues to stand beside us. We’re just getting started.
