Lion of the Week 🦁

This week’s Lion of the Week, proudly brought to you by the Old Wesley Collegians Association (OWCA), is Jake Cotchin.

A key member of our 2024 Under 19 Premiership side and the Best on Ground in that Grand Final, Jake has continued his outstanding development in 2026. Playing predominantly as a ruck-forward, he has been one of the Reserves’ most consistent performers throughout the season, using his athleticism, competitiveness, and strong work rate to impact games week after week.

Jake’s performances have not gone unnoticed, featuring in the Senior practice match against Seaford earlier this year. Still early in his football journey, Jake is a terrific example of the talent coming through at the lions and is certainly a player to watch in the years ahead.

The Wesley community flourishes far beyond the school years, with every Wesley student automatically becoming a member of the OWCA upon leaving the College. The OWCA supports a range of affiliate groups, including Collegians Football Club, helping lifelong connections within the Wesley community continue to thrive.

All Collegians Football Club players will wear two red armbands — one to honour women killed by gender-based violence, and one to demand accountability in sport.

We’re proud to stand alongside the campaign and remain committed to educating our community, creating safer environments, and driving real change.
